So guys and girls do you see the word 'cute' the same as her?
How many of you view being called cute as an insult rather than a compliment?
So guys and girls do you see the word 'cute' the same as her?
Personally, I do not think it is an insult at all. I mean the word cute itself does not just describe someone appearance wise, but it can also describe someone personality wise. Many girls and guys have called me cute, but most of the time they say it when I do or say something "silly" or just funny to them lol. I guess it really just depends on the person. One of my friends who is really short and petite always gets called cute, and she hates it because she's insecure about her height. So, she might link that word with an insecurity, or maybe a lot of people call her that and she finds it annoying.
OR she could just be kidding around lol. I know many girls who crave attention, and so they act like they don't like certain things to be said to them by saying things like "OMG. Stawwwwwp. Or I'll hit you". lmao. Do you see what I'm saying ? lol. Anyways, most girls do not mind the word cute. Cute is such an endearing word to use. It can describe someone's youthful appearance and/or playful personality.
I don't think cute is an insult technically speaking, most people mean it in a positive way. But it can also be dismissive, kind of giving you a child-like status so people don't take you as seriously. Animals are cute, babies and kids are cute- you get the picture.
Myself- I use cute to describe people, usually guys when they do sweet, endearing things that make you go "aww" and melt a little. I also use cute to describe my brother's girlfriend because even though she's like 5"9, she has a personality and outlook on life that just make you want to hug her.
Being a petite girl- I get called cute a lot, pretty rarely. I decided a long time ago to take it as it's meant by the person who says it- if they're trying to be complimentary then I'll take it that way. If they're trying to demean me in some way- then the gloves are off and, little as I am, I'm not so cute anymore!
No, that's for retarded people who just want to find anything to complain about.
Punching someone for calling you "cute"? Really? That person has issues or just saying pathetic retarded sh*t for the sake of the attention. It's one thing not to like it, and another is to get physical over being called a word that has a positive connotation, which is just ridiculously pathetic!
Anyway, cute is like whatever.. cute can be anything, from an action, to what you're wearing or just things you say, not necessarily that you're "pretty".. some people even call ugly little kids cute, precisely because they are "ugly" xD .. why do they do that? Idk, but that's the only time I find it insulting lol
I saw that question. The girl seemed psychopathic
Anyways, I don't see anything wrong with it. Girls have called me that on occasion (as well as other guys), so I don't see why its okay for women to use it to describe men and not the other way around
cute ... by her definition, could mean something like: being little, being a kid, not to be taken seriously, etc ... which could possibly lead to the reaction you observed: "I AM NOT CUTE! GET THAT INTO YOUR F***ING HEAD!" ...

I think she's the exception on this one and she's f***ing rude by the way. Being called cute is never an insult, but it can be a bit of a turn off. It gives off the impression that you're viewed as a child and to many girls it means that the guy has no romantic interest in her whatsoever. It's better to use "pretty", as it sounds less childish.
If I met this girl, I will let her knew that being a girl doesn't mean you don't think you can get away with punching a guy. Abywat t answer your question, it really depends on how you mean. If I'm you meant by insult or mocking you, I can see the urge why that girl would want to do that but if it's a fun and flirty tone, I think she is overreacting. I also don't see guys over telling me and everyone else that they have the urge to knocked out a woman because she called him cute. I swear the double standard is just outrageous.
I know guys hate to be called cute because it's code for a girl's 'I will never sleep with u'
I don't mind being called cute though I would prefer hot or sexy. It depends on the situation really. The guy I'm crushing on ATM is cute, but that means I would still wanna sleep with him. Everybody is different.
I am always, and then ever since I got breasts, always called cute. First I was like ' wow what nice, I never got called cute so openly and never got such nice compliments!' but as the years flew by I realized that I am no cute girl at all! So I was the same as that girl when I was 14. Now at the age of 19 I don't really care for it anymore because I sometimes call people cute because of how they act not how they look.
Someone trying to say something nice? How offensive!
Some people think it's demeaning, like they're being compared to a baby or puppy. Realistically though, I don't think a person usually says it with negative intentions, so I don't take it as an insult.
because I'm very petite, I hear the compliment cute All the time. but I don't thik it should be a compliment since I didn't chose the height I am now nor the face I have. I don't take it as an insult, but because I hear it all the time, it gets kind of annoying to be honest.
I voted C...generally I'd say its a compliment, but I do notice some guys use it as a way to say something nice when there isn't anything in particular that jumps out at them as amazing. In some cases it's a blanket word for "you're ok" -generally referring to physical appearance. I think it would be overreacting to see it as an insult and want to punch someone over it, but it's nothing I would get too excited over/feel special about either.
I love being called cute and I take it as a compliment! I think some girls hate it because they'd rather be considered sexy than cute and they have the idea in their heads that you can't be both. But that's not true at all! You can be sexy and cute, just usually not in the same moment ;)
I won't say she's wrong or right as its her opinion. there's no correct answer.
Personally, I don't mind it.
I don't find guys attractive if they are just hot or beautiful. they gotta be cute too. it brings the humanity into the mix in a pleasant endearing attractive playful way. nothing else comp ares. imo.
I don't mind being called cute ... I actually like it!
However I do find it awkward if somebody calls me adorable ;)
But cute is cool :D ... The guys that I refer to as 'cute' are usually the ones that are boyfriend material, so maybe that's why I don't see being cute as a negative thing ^^
No, I see it as a complement, I mean, I think it would get annoying after awhile, but I personally would find it to be a complement, maybe she's tired of hearing it, or she maybe one of those tought girls that just don't like being called "cute" ya never know...
Yes. Sadly I can relate to her.
Even if intellectually I know it's not a demeaning word itself and many people mean well, I tend to feel angry (or at the very least, suspicious) when someone calls me "cute". In the past, I've been told that in a condescendent way, just because of my difficulty to read social cues.
The problem is not if she's wrong or right. Evidently, if her discomfort with that word is enough to punch someone, there's an underlying feeling of resentment, and to judge her because "not knowing how to take a compliment" doesn't help at all.
It's great that most of you don't have to second-guess. To feel like possibly providing ammunition to a potential bully is f***ing terrible.
cute to me feels minuscule and not very womanly.
i get called that all the time. and it makes me feel like a child. I want to be more sexy but ever since I told my boyfriend that he changed cute to hot.
i hate hot because it has no depth and I feel like a tramp or a slut
just stick with beautiful but I would never tell him that because then he doesn't mean it.
It depends on how they say it. It's really annoying if someone puts me down by calling me cute. For instance, sometimes I might not know how to do something, which means I'll ask the nearest person for help. If said person then goes "aww you're so cute" in an "oh you're such a helpless child" kind of way, I think it's kind of rude. But if it's in another situation, and it's meant as a compliment, I will take it as one and feel flattered.
For me cute=adorable=pretty=sweetsexy=hot.
sexy=hot<cute=adorable=pretty=sweet.
I can understand her reasoning. She's heard it way too much. It's probably the only thing she's ever been called. It gets super tiring after a while. Guys, you have a vocabulary. Use it. I'd get sick of hearing it too if it was the only descriptive word guys could come up with about me.
I think that girl was trolling, haha!
She went a little bonkers on me :-P
I completely disagree with her.
I LOVE being called cute. I'd rather be called cute than HOT any day! I'd never in a million years ever take offense to someone calling be cute. I'd probably blush and say thank you :-)
I like being called cute 0:)
I like being called anything hehe, I can usually figure out a guys intention if he says something like that anyway, so I know if he's being real or not, being friendly or flirty etc:)
Haha what? I rather be called that than say "Hot" or "Sexy". I don't know, just seems like you're looking at the whole package, than just the physical. Or "Pretty" can work too. That girl seems like she can't take a compliment for sh*t lol
I don't find it offensive at all. I guess it would depend on the tone but I was recently called cute by two guys at work and today working out, a few guys looked over. I'm not at all too emotional about what others call me to be honest.
'Cute' isn't offensive unless it's used condescendingly, and even then sometimes it's just funny. =P
F.uck dude, a compliment is a compliment, that's how I feel about it.
cute = medicore description of girls which guys use it too many times carelessly on girls 6 or 7 out of 10
cute used on babies alot.
People just say it for the sake of saying it. it means NOTHING
I wouldn't care, but I'd rather be called beautiful. Just because it sounds more genuine and romantic.
Girls don't like to be called cute or sexy. Punching ? Now that's severe.
whats wrong with both of those?
Cute is what you call your pet. Sexy implies she is only good for her physical attributes
the girl I'm talking about would rather be called sexy than cute.
but in any case. I find that a little ridiculous. Cute means different things in both those contexts and by the person saying them
Well you asked for girls view. There it is. Naturally there are some variances
What would you rather be called then?
Beautiful , attractive, pretty, classy. Any thing other than complements that encompass soley the physical attributes or a generic catch all like cute.
so how do you usually react when a guy calls you cute?
I don't .. Like I said she is overreacting.
And I mean girls usually say it depends on the delivery too, so if a guy sounded real sincere when he says it to you... still not good in your opinion?
Well perdonalIy it guess depend on the guy and the context.. It would be alright.
We just don't want to be definfed by it. You get it?
How about this. if it was a guy you liked and he called you cute one day and meant it... instant turn off? no longer like him?
Nah.. That's just silly. It's fine:)
I would rather be called ugly than cute only because its true. Girls that call me cute are a bunch of liars and I know their lying. People that call people cute only do it so they don't look shallow.
Depends on whether it's an honest opinion, or trying to downplay anything I do which would be more in the category of cool.
The reason why she doesn't like it is probably because cute is more of a compliment for a little girl not a grown ass woman
Any time someone compliments me I am flattered. I don't mind it at all! It's better than being called ugly...Lol
It's a compliment. How much I like it depends on the situation though. Sometimes I prefer pretty, attractive, beautiful, gorgeous, hot, sexy, etc. The last four are stronger words and denote a stronger reaction/attraction.
I often think that girls just want to find nonsense to complain about and or something extra to be insecure over.Thats all I can say about this. Girls can be pretty damn annoying.
Well, I get called cute, among hot, beautiful, etc. From what my guy friends told me, guys say cute sometimes, because it's a nicer and less creepier way of saying hot.
I know who she is lol I already told her she's wrong.
i don't agree, but I guess people see things differently.
as for punch, lol.. well if she wants jail, that's her business.
Cute is a great compliment.. Most celebrities are "beautiful" but not cute and that's why I don't find them attractive and don't have a celebrity crush.. A perfect girl is cute, beautiful and sexy of course, cute being the most important
I don't think it's a bad thing. If I say that about someone it's always a good thing.
Theres nothing wrong with being called cute, Its still a compliment so who cares.
Cute is a compliment. Unless you use it as you would "precious." A compliment is a compliment. That girl is way in over her head.
I don't mind it, but that chick seems real crazy.
Sounds like she needs some Midol.
I like cute girls :|
