Do you think that "cute" is a half assed compliment?

I sometimes feel it's a white lie, when someone says you are cute they actually mean you are ugly. If you were attractive they'd say you were pretty/handsome not cute, cute is more of an "aww" type thing. Like something you'd say when you see a cute animal or baby, but cute when complimenting a person I feel they're practically calling you ugly but don't want to hurt your feelings.

It's not a white lie when I say someone is cute. It's the way I feel about either that she looks nice, or that she has done something that is cute and attractive.

No, i feel like it's still a compliment if you aren't attractive you wouldn't try to suffice them w/ "cute" you'd just not even bring up anything close to it xD
