Do men like being providers?

I recently opened up to my boyfriend of two years how he "provides" for me. For example, he comforts me, I trust his judgment more than my own, etc. I told him he was my provider in my eyes even though we don't live together. Things had stopped progressing for us and he was unhappy because he barely made his ends meet. Since then. he's been slightly different. like calling to warn me of bad weather, holding me when I've had a bad day. showing concern for me. He's happier and I am elated. Do you think it's because of our conversation?

Absolutely they do. I'm sure you've heard of woman saying, "I'd like someone to be with, but I don't NEED a man, I can take care of myself". This is about the last thing a man wants to hear, what a turn off for them. They want very badly to be needed, and to have their partner be thankful for everything they do to provide.

Sidenote here: but anytime I think my guy is down (and not always then, but other times too) I'll think of something I appreciate about him, and tell him. Heaven to ears when you start any phrase with, "I love it when you", or "I love the way you" or, "____ is something I love about you". Will surely give him a pick me up and make him feel special. :)

I guess no one's made me feel I needed them. this man does because he takes better care of me than I can. But he was so stressed about money it took me repeatedly telling him I didn't need to be taken care of that way. That if the time came we'd do that together. Men are strange sometimes.

It's not about them making you feel like you need them, it's you deciding that you need them. Same thing with actively loving someone. It's a CHOICE to love someone, just like it's a CHOICE to need someone . . .

Definitely agree with Choice but if someone can't take better care of you than youself and fulfill your needs there's little choice involved.

If they aren't able to take care of you (fulfill your needs, whatever they may be), then they aren't the right person for you!

Of course we do. That's our natural role. We need to be needed. Well, most of us anyway.

I want him to feel needed because he is. do men show more when they know this? Because before I went crazy wondering if we could make it.

I don't find it unusual. understand he's always been good to me but unhappy with his situation. I thought it was me. I have loved but never felt provided for. not financially. but as a woman. he was hung up on money being an issue so I explained what he did for me and he's opening up. if I had known I would have said it sooner. just wanted a guys take on it.
