Can extroverted guys be shy around the girl they like?

My guy friend is interesting in the sense that he is very open, bold , and extroverted, but yet when he's around me he is more quiet. When he's drunk though, it's a completely different story. He seems to dish his feelings to me, but I chalked it up to drunk talk. He talks to me, but I could just tell there's a difference cause he's more shy and just listening to me most of the time.

See, I don't quite understand this behavior, cause I am the same with everyone, weather I like the person or not, you couldn't tell I had a crush on a particular guy cause I act the same.

Also I thought he didn't like me, cause when we were around a group he would talk to me, but it was very minimal. He would talk to the others more, and crack jokes with the others, but with me, he would act kinda serious, and kinda treat as if I didn't exist in a way. I don't know if that's being shy? Or if he just doesn't like me?

Another thing that's annoying is that he'll compliment me behind my back, he'll never compliment me to my face. I hear from friends all the time, Jason said this and that about you. He just stares at me, but if he is so open and extroverted, then why is that an issue? It's just interesting to me, cause I never encountered someone like this. He almost gives me the signal he doesn't like me, but then there are so many other signals that he does like me. So I just don't know if it's a shy thing? Can that happen to extroverted people? Please comment! I will pick Most Helpful! :)

Either he has conflicting ideas in his mind about you (not necessarily bad) OR he's afraid of rejection or you thinking that he's hitting on you - the last 2 options more likely

Yes it can happen to extroverted people. Not everyone who's extroverted is necessarily as they are perceived :)

P. S. It may not be wrong to think he's interested in you in some way but is still in analyzing stage more about himself than of you :)

I say a lot of ILUs myself but again it's a diff tone & those who know me realize how I mean it so it's ok. But here sure it's different.

Yes. I am very extroverted and am comfortable speaking with any stranger, but when I decide I like a girl I clam up and am too shy to say much more than hello. It sounds like he has a not-so-secret crush on you.

That's interesting! I guess it's more common than I thought. What's funny about him is that he tells me every detail of his life, so he's not shy about that, but yet when it's like me and him together he kinda acts shy and more quiet. When he's around other people though he is really funny, outgoing, and has no filter, lol. Thank you! :)

I know what that's like, because I was that guy. I could talk about anything but romance with a girl I had a huge crush on, but if the conversation moved toward romance, I clammed up. He's nervous, and I bet a kiss would calm his nerves.

You're welcome. I used to be the same way: I could only express my feelings for a girl I really liked when tipsy (or more); it was so bad that I would invite girls for drinks because I knew I wouldn't make a move sober. I was just too shy and under-confident.

Well that's he thing, I am kinda extroverted. I act the same with everyone else, I don't act shy or any different around someone I like. I'm sorry! I am kinda the worng person to ask, lol, cause I act the same with everyone regardless. I do know some extroverted girls that would get all shy and quiet around a guy they like. I mean from the answers i'm getting, it seems like even extroverted people get shy with someone they like cause they don't want to screw it up with them. I hope your situation works out! But I would guess she likes you, cause think about it if someone is extroverted, and out going then why with only you they are introverted, shy, and the complete opposite? I would think it's because they like you, cause if they didn't then they just wouldn't talk to or associate with you for that matter, but they just seem more quiet around you, I am starting to get it now, that is pretty much a dead giveaway they like you.
