Think my "friend" told my crush lies about me.?

I found out that one of my closest friends at work has been telling lies about a lot of important things. A guy in another dept that she is better friends with than I was interested in me. I told her about our flirtation once I thought it was going somewhere.
She then told me that he has been asking everyone out including her. Since I didn't know her to lie I of course believed it and began to back off at her encouragement.
A couple weeks ago she told me he was dating someone else so I might as well give up. So I did. Once I found out about her actions lately I realized he cut off most contact with me the day AFTER I told her about us.
Now I just think she has told him who knows what and have no idea if it's even fixable.

It would be a heck of a coincidence if she didn't say something to him.
Does she like this guy? Or maybe liked him in the past?
I feel your best course of action is to just make casual conversation with him. Ask him how his weekend was, etc. Build up your contact that way. Then subtly find out if he's single. as well as letting him know you are. See what happens from there.
by the way I would be very careful what you tell your "friend" in the future.

Oh I am being careful as well as slowly breaking contact. No to be honest I don't know if she liked him as I said she told me he pursues her as well. I would try to make contact but it always ends up being awkward in one way or another. Plus he has cut most communication with me off, other than the occasional glance when he passes me. Any texts go unanswered and he acts as if I don't exist much.

In that case I would ask him. Just say something along the lines that their seems to be a change in our friendship. And you're wondering if it's something you said or did. Ask if there is anything I or we can do because you think he's a really great guy

Talk to the guy and say "Hey, So I noticed you don't talk to me anymore what's up with that?" tell him about the miss understanding but don't blame it all on your friend or he may think our petty. take maybe 2% of the blame?
