Don’t take this the wrong way but the fact that you bragged to your friends shows you have a lot of maturing to do. She isn’t property, you don’t own her so she’s not “yours” to claim. You two aren’t even in a relationship for you to do that in the first place. It was inconsiderate of her to have done what you did, and honestly may have ruined your chances entirely. You can apologize, maybe bring her some flowers as well and explain your mindset when you told your friends and that if she’s willing to give you another chance this will never happen again. In general though, whether it’s her or someone else please keep matters between you and that person private. It’s more respectful and you do not need outside parties weighing in on personal matters.

But that’s not for you to dictate. You have to understand that as a single woman, she has the right to explore her options, same as you (even if you aren’t doing so). If she really is into you then it won’t matter who tries to go for her, she wouldn’t give them the time of day, but she should have the opportunity to come to that conclusion on her own and navigate that without you interfering.

The only point and time you should worry about other men respecting your position in her life is when you are in an actual relationship. Not before. Even if you are incredibly worried about her choosing someone else, she has the right to decide that and if she picked another guy yeah it would hurt, but you’d have to respect her decision. Everyone deserves that.
