Why is my crush pushing me away? does he hate me?

I think my crush used me. We're both in grade 9. I had science with him last semester and now I have geography and math with him. Last semester I told him I like him and I told him its Okay if he doesn't feel the same way, I'm fine with being just friends and he agreed to being friends. He acted like my friend too. He would tell me every thing without me asking an he would joke around and stuff, at the same time I would help him with science. If he messaged in the middle of the night and asked for help, I would help him and he continued to be my friend. The last nice thing he said was ," you taught the class science not our teacher. Thank you " that was know exam day - last day of semester 1 . now we have geography and math together. I tried talking to him but he just gives cold answers. He's better than me at math so I asked for help and he made up excuses. I went through so much to help me. We had a bad teacher. Any ways, when I'm around him, I don't feel awkward but there is a sense of awkwardness and it comes right from him. It wasn't like that before but now it is. I don't know why he's acting like this. He's obviously not interested :/ but I thought we were friends.. I can't get over him at all. I tried so hard but it just doesn't happen. Does he hate me?

He doesn't hate you but sometimes this happen. Yes, it sucks so much. (that's why it's called a crush, because it crushes the shit out of you). Sometimes people can't communicate their feelings properly so they run away (that's what the avoidance thing is.. it's him saying i'm not interested and I don't want to seem like I am) If he avoids you.. you avoid him. Follow his lead. eventually, with time you'll be ok again. it doesn't feel like it.. and it feels like you'll never get over this.. but eventually you will. It'll be ok.

He obviously just wants to stay away from you. Being friends is not a good idea if you can't get over him. He probably just wants you to get over him.
