I gave my number to a shy girl. Was it a good or a bad idea?

We're just getting to know each other. She's rather shy.
We were in a situation in which someone had to call the other (so that we could meet up) and I gave her my phone number.
Now, I thought this was a super cool thing since I gave her the power to call me or not, but now I think that maybe I put too much pressure on her and I should've asked her to give me her number.
What do you think?

That was great! Shy girls are terrified to ask for a number (I would know) so good for you. The problem is that shy girls HATE having the power to call or not--we're shy, it's hard enough to show we're interested.
I'm not sure if you have her number yet, but if you don't, next time you see her ask her to contact you, instead of giving her the option. That way you can initiate contact with her in the future, which is the best approach with a shy girl.

maybe, she might be nervous to be the instigator there. Do you guys see each other in person or have Facebook? maybe you could message her to initiate it a little bit until you get her number? Sorry i don't know if thats helpful but you were being sweet :)

Im very shy i hate talking on the phone most likely i dont even answer my phone! Lol but if a guy gives me his number that i really really liked i would suck it up and call him. It would probably be a short awkward convo but still (:

I'm a shy girl and I feel more comfortable when I'm giving the power to go on my own pace. I dont like it when guys text me bc i dont know them, and when they text me freaks me out. You approaching her was good enough. If she likes you she ll contact you. If she doesn't have courage to contact you now thats her problem. I'm a shy person but when like someone i dont care about anything else

if a guy gives us his number, we spend forever trying to figure out what to say. Give her time, she may just be nervous, or she may not be interested. could go either way.
