Why did he ask me to a housewarming party?

I am a female.my next door neighbor is male.We have been friends for six months.I announced to him six months ago that I liked him.But nothing happened and we stayed friends.Now he invited me to a house warming party.We both moved into this new apt building,but not the same apt.So I went to the party,preparing my heart to stay cool because there might be someone there who he happens to be seeing.There was a couple,and three other ladies.One lady kept giving me evil looks.At one point after being there for two hours,I told him that I was leaving.He asked me why.I told him it was time for me to leave,getting tired.He said ok.Then he did something which shocked me.He held his arms out and gave a big bear HUG.The lady's face was green with envy. I also would like to say that he barely talked to her.He also shares his food with me whenever he cooks.Can somebody please give me clarity on this situation?

Let's see, he's very social, physically affectionate, exhibits gustatory generosity, and remains capable of maintaining a cordial friendship without stooping to his baser instincts. You may have encountered one of the animal kingdom's rarest of creatures: the elusive "Mature Male." I love to dish out the hugs too, but my warm embrace doesn't always mean I'm warm for a particular female form.

On the other hand, this man could be a bit of a dipstick despite his apparent social alacrity. He could be a strong social lubricator who fears real intimacy. Thing is, you'll never really know till you hash it out with your person of interest. Bring some wine to one of his dinners for two. Wait till the juice hits his giblets, watch for the smile and warm glow, then ask the tough questions.

It might be the whole Next-door-neighbor thing. Say, if you guys were to date before you became friends and you guys didn't know each other that well, and the relationship didn't work out - now you guys have to live next to each other until one decides to move. That can get pretty stressful at times. That might have been something that made him want to get to know you better. But then again, he might feel like now he knows you well enough to get an expectation of how the relationship might flow. And he's starting to warm up to you more now.

If you really liked a girl - wouldn't you ask her out, irregardless of living circumstances?

Being neighbors is tough because of all the worst case scenario situations that can happen. And I might like a girl and find her attractive, but I also might think that we might not fit well together in a relationship for one reason or another. So I might flirt with a girl but then realize maybe we have two different ideas of what we're looking for and I might not ask her out. Again, that's a worst-case scenario.

But the other girl who became jealous, she could be a friend of a friend/anything

Who he may not have even invited himself, maybe he did, I don't know. But sharing food somewhat consistently (that's what it sounds like) is a good thing in my book. I only do that if I like someone. If I wanted to make someone jealous, you wouldn't have seen the other girl, I probably would have put myself in position to give her a smirk as I hugged you (kind of like "in your face"). It would be different. lol, but I try not to do things like that.

He may be trying to make the other woman jealous. If he wanted to ask you out, especially after you shared your feelings for him, he would have.

Chuck-Stonchest gave you some great advice. I think it's a privilege whenever he answers.

As for my advice. I think it's best to finally ask how he feels next time. Time is elusive, and you don't get an infinite supply. Stop analyzing his neighbor traits and finally ask him how he feels about you. Or better yet, start asking you how you feel. Do you still like him after all this time? Obviously you already told him you liked him before, but he never did anything with it. So the point is, after six months, I think it's time he gave you an answer. You deserve it.

maybe he just wants to be friends with you or he might have feelings for you and for some reason is not acting on them.

you won't know until you hang out with him several more times and just pay attention to things he does or how he acts

About three months ago.And I will give him credit,He did make attemps to meet with me after that.But because I have a busy shedule,so we could never hook up..

Well - this cld really go either way. Whatever the case he seems genuine in his want to either be friends or maybe be more serious. With a busy schedule that can put a hold or a samper on things. I wld maybe see if he wants to go out for drinks or coffee and just talk to him abt it. The worst that cld happen is that he wants to be friends and he seems like he'd be a good man to have in your corner.
