I think it was a novel way of sneaking in the new "panty-style" rather than shorts. They put out this red herring, heard about their "bad deed", and then "retreated" to the point they wanted to be in the first place. The "choice" and "empowerment" jazz was the icing on that marketing cake.

I mean they did choose to work their after all, however I do agree that the employees should have a choice on what to wear when it comes to jobs like this. As for hooters being a friendly family restaurant, 😂😂 I mean when I went their I did enjoy what I saw but It’s not something a little kid should be allowed to visit

Hooters both lost and won their case for only hiring female servers by paying out a settlement to those that had been discriminated against by their gender and by agreeing to hire some men as "support staff," ONLY. The restaurant said its hiring practice conformed with the Civil Rights Act because the chain is "in the business of providing vicarious sexual recreation and female sexuality is a bonafide occupational qualification." They even put out ads mocking Washington by having men dress up in the uniform to imply that it was not sexy at all and Washington should stay out of their business.

I mean if they are going out of business due to its being sexist or oppressing women I don't get that if they are just going out of business cause their service isn't great then I could see that. I am only saying that cause you don't have to choose to work at Hooters and anybody who applies there knows what their waitresses standards are.

I've been boycotting Hooter's since they opened. Their business model is institutional misogyny. I won't have any of that. No, thank you. I will take my taste buds elsewhere.

Obviously it's not an appropriate place to take a family for dinner. However, what other people do is their business. Trying to get that place banned, would be like, demanding that one of those male strippers. That women pay to perform at birthday parties or whatever to be banned.

Not saying it should be banned. But it touts itself as a restaurant that's family-friendly. I wanna see a Denny's with similar uniforms.

I don't know why they thought they could get away with having their staff wear underwear. If they wanna be a strip joint, they can be a strip joint but as long as they wanna be a restaurant they can't ask their staff to walk around in underwear.

There are several other chains that use skimpy uniforms. Twin Peaks, Tilted Kilt... there is a local place in St Louis were they actually wear lingerie. I don't remember the name because I never went. But I remember seeing the advertisement when I lived there.

Some girls have learned to love them while other girls never did. I know one on tik tok who said she hated the old, but now loves the new ones. I'm a guy and of course love the sexual aspect of the new uniform (and old ones) but even as someone who isn't that all fashionably forte, I like the new ones better than the old ones. I just think they look better, again, try to put the sexual part of them aside.

Never been to a Hooters (from the UK) but, you seem to forget that it's kept itself alive by marketing and controversy.

People like you lap up the controversy and do their marketing for them. Hooters is just a business.

Pretty sure that would open the company up to even more lawsuits because the ones that refused to wear them would still be doing the same exact job as the ones that do and then be paid less for it. They could easily file claims for unfair wages.

Just think how great it would be if women actually didn't want to be sexualized as they claim, and they stopped applying for work there. Hooters would go out of business, and women could find jobs in office buildings, wearing full coverage pant suits and they'd all be happy.

They're shooting themselves in the foot. The ONLY reason people go to Hooters rather than an *actual* family restaurant is because of the skimpy outfits. Pretending otherwise is only going to lead to their bankruptcy.

Well it is just plain and simple if they don’t like the option go work somewhere else I mean I don’t see anything wrong with it and a lot of other people don’t. A lot of hitters girls like the new shorts and it was only a small few that were mandating them to where the new ones all the other gave them the choice right away and they give them both pair of shorts what they get hired in.

I like the wings. They’re way better than Buffalo Wild Wings and even though the servers are wearing next to nothing, they have excellent service. I couldn’t care less what they wear as long as they still have the wings.
