Possibly a dumb question, but do energy drinks like Monster, Red Bull, and 5-hour energy work for you?

I have drank them a lot in the past few years. Like at least once a week. I mean, not more than coffee-drinkers drink coffee, but still quite a bit. Most don't really seem to make me energetic anymore most of the time, but sometimes they work.
Out of the most popular brands, Rockstars work best for me. Particularly the kinds with 240mg of caffeine per can. Punched and Perfect Berry are good. Takes like 30-60 minutes for me to become energetic, then lasts 1-2 hours.
5 Hour Energy works for me too, but I don't think it lasts 5 hours. Maybe 3 hours at most, but usually I take this stuff at work so it might be different because 1) I'm in a bad/neutral/tired mood a lot of the time and 2) I'm being active.
I don't think I've had an energy drink where I didn't like the taste. But I will tell you, regular Monster smells terrible to other people when you drink it.
Yea well my school gave out free Monster Energy Iced Teas. I think peach flavored or something. I don't know but i loaded up since they were free haha
Yeah all the Monster Recovery ones are pretty good. Mostly taste like flavored tea but they have a good amount of caffeine.
Yea they do work. But drinking one today won't effect you tomorrow. It's really only for those few hours after during the day
But they have a buttload of energy boosting things like caffeine and taurine which will get you pretty wired up... Just have a cup of coffee or 2 cups of tea... much better
I hardly drink coffee and tea. I dont think we even have any at the house. Im more ot a soda drinker
Mm if you drink a lot of soda with caffine you could be desensitized a little to the caffine but not that much. Energy drinks have a lot
I once drank it for a morning test cause i was sleepy all kinds. I only drank like half a red bull and i was super shaky and lost concentration at a point. But it did help for a little other than the shakeyness
Oh heck no lol that sounds scary
they work! occasionally if I'm out with friends and getting tired I'll order a vodka redbull (the new flavors they have like tropical, cranberry and orange) are goood, I hated the original). sometimes if its earlier and I know I'm getting tired, I'll drink one of those little 5 hour energy drink (miniature bottle like the size of a shot) and I will be a wake for the next 5 hours. I haven't had all the brands you listed but would bet 's they all work similarly. As for your own body's reaction, you'll just have to figure that out at your own risk...
Yeaaa i think i'll wait
Awww midterms. Tots understand the stuggle as I've got them too. They really don't work for me. And those rare days they do I come down from a really bad caffeine crash which mak3s me feel like shit. So the best thing you can do is pump some loud exciting music and do some exercise and that will help.
Okay i already listen to music like 18 hours a day haha. So i should be good
Hahaha the cure for midterm blues! Good luck

I started drinking energy drinks when i was about 8 years old. I still drink them lol. Almost daily lol 1 Litre of rockstar or monster, boost. You name it. Iv tried all the energy drinks, purely for taste. I'm pretty much immune to caffeine. It's different for some people, i live in UK energy drinks arr everywhere lol.

Rockstar is my favourite one especially that flavour, me and my friends drink it all the time.
@DizzyDesii Do you drink anything like coffe, tea beverages that contain high caffeine?
Oooh rockstar looks yummy!! But yea i drink tea and soda
It used to work for me when I first started drinking them in late 2003 (Red Bull, Liquid Lightning, and YJ Stinger were my favorites) but the more I drank, the less effective it became over time. Ultimately, I stopped drinking them on a regular basis around 2007 or so because it no longer gave me the boost like it once did.
Dang maybe your body was too used to it?
I don't really drink them. I don't like the taste of them.
Generally no they do nothing for me. There was 1 that did, it made me buzz for a few hours. It was good for getting me through the end of a 12 hour shift (after I had already worked 70 hours that week) but I generally just auto zombied through shifts.
I drink coffee in the mornings but it's more the heat than the caffeine. Tea wakes me up too, but coffee is more a subconscious "right, that was tasty, let's go"
Yea coffee puts me to sleep. That and tea are both too relaxing for me
I don't know much about energy drinks because I never drink them. I have tried a few red bulls before but I didn't really feel any difference. I think it depends on how sensitive you are to caffeine? For some people it might cause insomnia, sleep is very important before an exam. Just stop drinking 6 or 7 hours before you sleep and you should be fine.
Okay because i drink caffeine 24/7 (soda-wise) lol
Hmm ok
Each person is different, some people can have a taste of an energy drink and be super duper hyperactive.
And some people, like me, can drink 3 of those and go to sleep as if it was just water with a taste of gummy bears.
So it really really depends on how you react to those kind of drinks. :)
Lol yea it prob won't affect me haha
I drink red bull bc others have much more sugar to provide energy and sweetness. red bull didn't give me energy, it just keeps my mind awake I guess you could say.
I never cared for monster though my brothers drink it like they're a fish 🐟 and it's water.
I've tried 5hr energy and it did nothing for me.
Hmm, okay maybe i should wait to drink this on the weekend
Well, I only drank some a few times.. But.. When I did I never really paid attention to if they actually gave me energy.. I mainly just liked the taste of them.. But they most likely do.
Yea i just wanna try the taste haha
I've never tried any, I rely on Matcha tea for energy. My friends who do rely on energy drinks say that it does give them energy but afterwards, they feel very tired.
Yea i worry about the tired part
Tried Nos once and it didn't do anything for me. Never drank an energy drink after because coffee.
Yea coffee just makes me sleepy. Its more of a relaxer for me
Coffee and tea only slightly pick me up. I try to avoid it all though.
Why not just drink one some time tomorrow before the midterms?
Because i may crash during midterms lol. I'll just wait til the weekend
Lol yeah.
I used to drink monster in college (not proud) but when I was editing for 2 nights, kinda needed it haha.
So how long did it keep you energized? And did it suddenly knock you out?
Ooooh dang
I doubt it. I don't drink energy drinks. If I drink anything for energy, it would be soda. But I don't really drink soda anymore, either. I really only drink water, juice or milk.
Yea i drink soda and i dont need energy. Just thinking of trying it just to try it
I don't know, I don't like them and I eat and drink enough unhealthy stuff so not gonna start with those. also, the caffeine is lower in Europe than in the US versions so it wouldn't mean much anyway
Ohhh i see
For being a big guy, I definitely am a lightweight with caffeine, so those energy drinks (as well as any caffeine source ) definitely do work for me. I even feel a slight zip off of Mountain Dew and with colas.
However I know that energy drinks are bad for your heart due to all the sources of caffeine, so I do my best to only drink them on an as-need basis. Mainly when out partying/night-life situations, very little sleep when having to do something, or on road trips.
My grandpa has high blood pressure. Is it okay for him to drink one?
Energy drinks and me don't mix. I get shake and hyper but still feel tired. I would wait until you don't have anything going on to try one.
Okay thanks :)
I haven't tried any of them. I wouldn't recommend you trying them. But if u want try after mid terms lol 😎
Ok yea i may wait lol
I remember getting a Redbull for free when I went hiking, and I did not feel any effect.
But I didn't like it either so I never drink any of these energy drinks :o
sometimes, monster, but I normally just crash from them
Thats what im worried about
Energy drinks are basically pop with caffeine...
Personally I actually do better with home work when I have them, but it depends how caffeine and sugar effect you.
If you drink it the day before it won't effect you the next day.
they used to when I would drink them but thankfully I stopped drinking them
Oh gosh you got me nervous haha
I dont want to get the jitters lol
Hmm ok lol
