It's pretty frickin' rude. Cooking is a lot of work, and some people even make up their own recipes. You'd hurt the hell out of someone's feelings by telling them that.
Maybe let them know that you greatly prefer food to taste a certain way.

Depends on how its said. They shouldn't ever say its nasty but critiquing with positive reinforcement is fine. As long as they actually offer tips and ideas to make it better. But they should probably still say its fine.
