Would you tell someone their cooking is bad?

I spent four hours prepping chicken tacos and made it for my siblings. I tried a new marinade I found online and I didn’t think it was the best. I brought it to my siblings’ house and my sister’s boyfriend was over. I overheard him say “That s***’s nasty.” from the other room and my siblings’ said it was “interesting”. I cried in my car because I felt terrible and embarrassed they were looking forward to this. I also spent quite a bit of money for this as well. I just threw out the leftover food after because I want to forget about it. I’m having a bad day so I’m sorry about the venting.

Yes, I think so. How else are they going to improve? Find out what was so bad about it and improve on it for next time.

If anything, I think it'd be a good exercise in taking criticism and improving from it. Ask the boyfriend what was wrong with it, and try again with him as your guinea pig.

not use recipes you know it’s good and your family knows it’s your best cooking.
min my family, we always tell each other how it tastes and how to improve next time.
we don’t talk like that.

You shouldn’t feel bad because you tried it for the first time. If I didn’t like the cooking, I wouldn’t be as rude as that guy. Rather I would point out the flaws so that improvements could be made.

i think your sister's boyfriend doesn't mean to offend you. and ya know the taste of food is subjective so don't take it to heart. what's important is you like your food. i cook too and what's important for me is i likr my food. and if it really taste not that good it's the thought that counts.


i have a godmother and she's not financially well but when she sees me she would buy cheap chocolate candies and peanuts and i never forget her because of thet.

It wasn’t wise to take an experimental recipe you’d never had before and hope everyone will like it. Take something you’ve already made before and know it will be good. But as for if I would tell someone their food is bad, out of politeness probably not. I would either get a very small portion and push it around or none at all if they aren’t specifically wanting me to try it.
