Refined being in Japan (boatload of white rice). That said, I'm kind of skeptical of claims that tie white rice to type-2, e. g., since eating white rice on a daily basis was something that was around since I was a boy, and including when my Japanese side of the family were children, and type-2 has only become a recent growing problem.
There are a lot of other factors to the Japanese diet that have changed since when I was a boy, including say, a much larger consumption of processed foods (when I was a boy everyone shopped for groceries daily and primarily consumed home cooking; nowadays many people are getting food from the convenience store).
That said, my wife and I make an effort to eat whole grains (and just high-fiber carbs in general) whenever possible regardless. It's just difficult to avoid white rice in Japan. It's always one of the most commonly things served at restaurants, other people's homes, etc.
Whole Grains
Probably equal tbh... I think I like refined more, but that’s usually because it’s sweeter and bad for you 😛 so we have whole grains at home but it’s generally white breads, rice and pastas when we’re out
I eat mostly refined grains. The reason why... well really it’s not a reason lol. I just do

Probably a mixture. with more of whole grains. I stopped eating white bread and rice probably over a decade ago. If I do eat it, it's because I'm out somewhere that I haven't prepared the food myself. I go back and forth with pasta and such. I love cornbread tho 🤷🏾♀️
Recently I've switch. I used to eat mostly refined grains but now I eat almost entirely wholegrains
notice any difference in you health?
Only grain we have is brown rice.
We don't really consume grains.
Most our carbohydrates come from beans, lentils and vegetables.
Refined grains. Because despite the rather ridiculous postulated drawbacks that are easily countered by discretion and basic diet control, the fact remains that getting preachy about whole grain is 100% more pretentious than refined grain.
I eat whole more. If I even eat carbs because I am on Keto diet
I prefer refined grain, they taste much better. I don't even think I eat whole grain ever. I hate the taste of it ><
Whole grains. I just prefer them taste-wise. I like the kinda rustic taste to it.
I consume products made from both whole & refined grains.
I will eat more whole grains

I eat oatmeal for breakfast sometimes.
Refined has the edge, but I do enjoy both.
