Unbiased opinion on Ketchup?

Americans buy 650 million bottles of ketchup per year. I've heard of it being put on eggs, Kraft dinner mac and cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches and of course hot dogs, french fries & onion rings. It's the base of many homemade bbq sauces. I personally don't use ketchup much as it's loaded in sugar and high fructose corn syrup. There is one teaspoon of sugar in every tablespoon of ketchup.
Well you are in trouble because there is sugar in almost everything you eat. Even sugar has sugar in it.
@Daniela1982 Usually only in processed foods a bottle of ketchup is 1/3 sugar... that's a lot of sugar.
Well just think how much is in BBQ sauce then. Probably near the same.
@Daniela1982 Considering ketchup is the base of most homemade bbq sauces I would agree... not sure why anyone uses bbq sauce anyway. I prefer a good dry rub made from seasonings and herbs.
I guess because BBQ is a time honored ingredient to any BBQ. I couldn't have BBQ ribs without it.
@Daniela1982 you should try it without, the best award winning baby back ribs cooked at some of the most time honored pit master competitions in the US, brine their ribs then use a dry rub made of various seasonings, wrap them in plastic wrap and let the rub sink into and flavor the ribs for 48 hours in the fridge. Then they cook them low and slow on their charcoal smokers using chunks of apple wood or oak or various other hardwoods depending on what part of the country they come from and when done to perfection the ribs have a delicious bark on them and are they most tender, flavorful ribs you've ever eaten. Bbq sauce is not used nor required. Some dumb people think they can put a pan of ribs in their kitchen oven pour bbq sauce over them and then say they just made bbq for supper... lol, poor dumb people.
Ketchup is ok, but I only really ask for it when I'm having fries (as I find mayo too fatty of a condiment for something that is already fatty).
I tend to make my own tomato-based condiments for most things, but I do include a bit of ketchup in my deviled eggs fillings.
I like it on certain foods, especially the spicy ketchup. Also, I used to eat eggs with ketchup when I was younger. It tasted really good at the time but I kind of outgrew it.
I like it. I don't think they use it on their eggs, but on their hash browns. My sister's kids eat ketchup on everything. Yuck, even too much of a good thing can gag you.
Lol I understand. Good on some stuff, not everything
I've always hated it but I feel like by hating it I'm missing out on something
Missing out on all the ketchup 😊

I don't use it as excessively as I once did, but I still love ketchup. Ketchup on eggs is pretty basic.
I like Heinz ketchup on hamburgers and french fries

I like it, maybe not for eggs and noodles but for sausages and meat as addition to mustard.
Who else thought this?
