Does ketchup belong on a good steak?

No, maybe a light amount A-1 and fried mushrooms, but if it's a decent quality steak ketchup would take away from the flavor. The one exception I can think of is if you haven't used any seasonings on it at all while it was cooking, then the worchestire, vinegar, garlic and onion in the ketchup could make up for that to a degree.
That steak does look pretty plain and a little burned, so maybe that's why. If it gets to a happy place, who cares about the path. You could start with a good steak and jack it up in prep or cooking, that could correct some I guess. I'd try it to salvage a t-bone or porterhouse lol

Nothing. And I mean NOTHING, belongs on a good steak. Any sauce will just ruin it. The only toping I would see as acceptable would be sautéed mushrooms or onions.. That is it.

Sounds weird, but ketchup comprises a lot bbq sauces, so if you add bbq sauce, quite often you are eating ketchup.
