Do you wash your bread before you eat it, or do you trust that it's clean?

What?👀
I know quite a germophobe but to wash my bread?😝
If I don't think my bread is "clean" I'll just change bakery🙄 or maybe just Toast it, maybe (just saying loll)🤣🤣
And how do you eat the bread when it's completely soaked? Do you put it to dry🙄🤔🤔🤔. Well I'd rather not know👀👀
Do you wash it with soap? I mean when something isn't clean you should get rid of germs right, but does only water do the work?🤔
Well I guess everyone has their own tics😕
What? You never put croutons in your soup? How is this any different?
Euh... it's extremely different 😑
I mean croutons in the soup is one thing and a soup of croutons is another 👀
Yeah, but at least I know my bread is clean.
Yes, I scrub and scrub until the crabs are refined to dust in my sink, it's quite a sad situation because yes, my bread is squeaky clean, but now it's all over the sink and covered in hand soap and dish wash.
Finally, someone who understands the struggle of having clean bread.
Did you know that bread comes from factory that needs to make sure there is no bacterians or virus in bread, because of your country laws say so and bread is mostly packed that humans in markets dosent touch it with dirty hands. you need to wash apples if you buy them from store, because people touch them in store.
._.
But what about the spores?
Dude… are you actually under the impression that bread is sterilized?
No one is saying bread is sterilized.
Wash your bread if it makes you feel happy.
It's the dumbest thing I ever heard of this year, maybe in the last five years, but go ahead.
It's baked in an oven at 350 degrees for half an hour. There are no spores in bread. It rises due to yeast, which isn't harmful and runs its course during two rises. Then the heat of the oven kills it. Bread is half air. It's likely the healthiest food you'll eat all day.
@coffeewithcream There are still living fungal spores in the bread, how else do you think it can mold while still in the bag?
No shit, that isn't what I am talking about.
I’ve never heard of people washing bread. I do not wash my bread before I eat, as I assume it’s clean and good enough once taking it out of the package, wrapping, etc. I’ll smell, feel, and inspect it a bit though.
That's pretty risky, especially during a pandemic.

Girl, you are not well. There is no such thing as washing bread. If there is something wrong with it (and bread mold is not a huge problem in the world), washing it will do nothing.
Seek professional help. This is probably just one of several signs you suffer with anxiety and irrational fear.
Yeah, but what about the spores?
Mold spores can grow in bread, but there will be physical evidence of them. If you see mold, you have to throw out the entire remaining loaf. This type of mold grows throughout, even though you may only see spots or discolouration in same areas.
Mold needs dark, dank (wet or moist) conditions to grow. It is not killed by water or mild heat. So washing bread is as pointless as washing your raw meat. Don't do that either. It will spread bacteria into your sink basin, and contaminate other things you put in it. (For meat, high temperature is needed to kill any traces. For milder cases, throw it out, of course.)
A single spore is microscopic, I’m not going to scan every slice of bread with a microscope. Its way faster and easier to just wash them off.
Oh nevermind. I read through your other comments. "Lipids are hydrophobic."? Uh huh. That's the giveaway.
You're male, aren't you.
You're a terrible liar. "Noooooo. Nothing's goin on around here. It's completely innocent!"

Why do you think that having a basic knowledge of soluble and insoluble molecular structures means that I have a penis?
I knew you would say that.
Statistically females tend to cluster more in humanities and males in science and STEM. This is not to say females are incapable of also knowing these.
The main reason I said it is because you created a troll question and your remarks to people are egging them all on. You're clearly having fun with this. And those traits are more male.
An assessment based on logical reasoning and deduction which has lead you to an inaccurate conclusion. I am a reasonably well known user on here and just posted this shit anonymously because It was stupid and I didn’t expect it to get this much attention. But I am also a biology major, and yes, I do have a vagina. Born with it an everything.
Omg this is like that BBC girl who freaking drains her soggy cooked rice then rinses it with water. I'd never do that, I just think you're ruining the bread, if you're that afraid then just don't eat the bread or buy it. Or make your own bread.
by the way if anyone washes their cooked soggy rice like the BBC girl, you're dead to me lol
Oh, you poor thing.
Okay, what about your socks, do you wash them before you put them on?
well yeah but i'm not wearing my bread on my feet nor has my bread been slathered across the ground all day. I get washing food, like washing fruits or vegetables or meats. But washing bread is like buying a cake or say a hamburger and washing that under water. They aren't foods meant to be washed and it just ruins the dish instead
So what’s the difference, between wet socks and wet bread?
I mean first off all, I'm not gonna eat my sock, and secondly my socks aren't wet. After putting them in the washer, they go in the dryer so they come out nice and dry. Wet bread however remains wet, unless you're leaving them out to air dry? not sure how that works tho. Oh and they're also different because you're comparing food to clothing. They aren't the same, therefore it's not an accurate representation of the situation nor an accurate comparison. It'd be more accurate to compare wet bread with a wet hamburger or wet cake, like i listed as an example in my previous reply.
Yeah, but I mean, don’t you at least rinse them off before putting them on in the morning?
why would i rinse my sock? I already put them in the laundry (washer and dryer) so they're clean. Don't understand why i would need to rinse them again to put them on.
Also i'm gonna end this convo. I'm not rlly interested in debating or having a discussion over wet bread and socks. Kinda pointless, I just think it's strange to wash bread and it's not a thing for me, but that's just my opinion and preference. You can wash your bread if you want and you like it, agree to disagree. I'm getting tired (it's like 5am) so I'm gonna stop replying and go to sleep.
But what about the spores?
I thought I'd give this a try after reading a few comments on how people prepared their bread. What the fuck have you guys made me do?
My laundry is a fucking mess🤬
LMAO!! Oh gods. I think I just found the MHO
It didn't even get to eat the bread. It just demolished in the machine. Thanks a lot guys 😔
I've never washed my bread before, and now I'm scared that I should've
Lol, thank you.
I just assumed it was clean or some shit, but wouldn't it make it all soggy if I did?
Sure, but who wants to eat dry bread?
Who wants to eat soggy bread though?
Om non nom nom
lmao
I usually use heat to cook it all off, I place all the bread in the oven and cook until the internal temp (meat thermometer works) is high enough to cook off the bacteria, I keep the bread soft and good as new by applying butter before using heat treatment on the bread
Congratulations on winning a Troll of the day award.
Right? I’m still surprised how many people actually took this stupid fucking post seriously.
But if you wash your bread its soggy :-s who wants to eat soggy bread... If your that worried about bread you eat from the supermarket either 1) go to a local bakery or 2) buy a bread maker and make fresh bread inside your house. Don't ever wash your bread I never ever ever heard anyone do that.
I usually run mine through the quick cycle on the washing machine. Much easier then doing it by hand.
I guess if you are going to eat a bunch of bread all at once that’s a good idea. but what about if you only want one or to slices?
Do you wash your paper before you write on it?
Or do you wash your toilet paper? Using the mushy toilet paper to wipe your butt.
Corona only lasts on things for a few hours. Mostly when we buy bread we don't eat it straight after we buy it, we mostly have a few in the freezer and take one put if we need it.
And the oven it was baked in should have killed all the bacteria already.
I wait till I've got to do a laundry and then throw the whole loaf in with my whites on a hot cycle. You're right. Can't be too careful. Plus it always give the bread a wonderful summer breeze scent.
Mmmm laundry bread 🤤
It works great if you're making bread pudding. And if you still want traditional bread, you reform it into a loaf, cut slices and char them with the iron on high. It makes it a little denser and chewier which works great on sandwiches.
Reminds me of Mr. Mom.

I make sure to put all my meals through a reliable laundry machine before consumption.
I'll take this at face value - sigh.
No.
As long as it doesn't have black, brown or blue-green mold on it, it's a keeper.
With stomach acid of a pH of around 2, let the bread watch out for itself.
no I do not wash my bread before I eat it ! if you wash your bread before you eat it you end up with soggy bread and those who do this to bread must be retarded too ! thanks
ew, who washes their bread with water only? first, i throw it in the washing machine. then, in the dryer. cmon y’all... bread lives matter too..
You put it in the dryer? Ewww, who eats dry bread?
Yes, with water and soap. Then I blow dry it before I eat it, tastes so much fresher🤣
You dry your bread? Ewww
A toaster makes it cleaner than ruining the bread with water
Yeah, but then its dry and who wants to eat dry bread?
Then you could put butter or some sort of spread on it
That feels like cheating.
Soaking bread is cheating 😂
I think that's what a toaster is for. You like soggy, wet bread?
You eat your bread dry? Eww
I guess you're special not like the rest of the normies.
One of the best questions I've seen on here in ages
Someone has to ask the important questions.
You shouldn't have went anon. Genius deserves recognition.
Yeah, I didn’t expect anyone to actually respond to this shit and here it is with like 70 fucking people arguing about whether or not to wash bread.
Personally I dip it in Clorox and then put it in UV light after which I spray it with ammonia
Okay, jokes aside you do realize that would make chlorine gas, right?
Lol nope...
that shit will kill you, and everyone in the room.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ssibt6hqpA0
I guess I'll stop washing the bread with Clorox then :-)
If the bread still holds structural integrity, it ain't washed enough!
Wash with soapy boiling water to be sure.
No I don't. I've never thought about doing that. It sounds strange to me.
You can never be too careful with your health.
Well I've never imagine to do that, it's supposed that bread of high industries are clean but I don't know. If you wash it it wouldn't be a bread?
They bake to much bread to fast and get it in the bread sack to fast for it to be dirty check it out on HOW THATS MADE
Wash? Do you use soap? If you're going to wash, do it right then.
Always! Nothing says appetizing like clean, bread mush :)
Lol, I honestly have no idea how the fuck this stupid question blew up as much as it did.
You would be surprised how many people got pissed at me for this stupid post. I should do this shit more often.
Who washes their bread before they eat? I just eat it like it is...🤷🏻
Yeah, but what if its dirty?
But how do you know if it’s clean or not? Spores are so small you can’t see them and microscopes are so expensive.
The spores are always there, you just can’t see them until they start growing.
Not paranoid, just cautious. Lots of people was their bread.
No, that would make it soggy. I usually left the dog lick it clean
I tried that once. The dog just ate it.
Damn Dogs, they just dont follow directions
Yes I wash it. I scrub it with soap and water then put nutella. It may be in wet chunks, but it's better eating something clean then eating something infested with pesky microorganisms.
Exactly, I’m glad you understand.
Lay off the street drugs darling. Or maybe go ask your doctor for a stronger dose of legal medication.
Nobody washes bread.
Yeah, my doctor told me I need to take more precautions so I don’t get sick.
ROFL. Washing bread is dumber than shit on a stick & no doctor would tell you that.
Wait, so you don’t shit on a stick either? Who’s the freak now, huh?
If you washed your bread before you ate it, I would seriously be concerned for you.
I usually just spray some deodorant on my bread before eating it.
I tried using febreze but it had a funny taste.
asker - seek mental help for you need it
@mountaverage it was just sarcasm right👀, cause the anon asker apparently thinks it's true🤔
@kimberleylove I have no idea what the Asker's deal is.
My deal is that I like clean bread.
I trust that it's cleaned. I didn't even know this was a thing. How can someone eat wet bread?
But its cleaner that way.
Yes but do you eat the bread when is still wet?
What, you want me to eat dry bread? That’s disgusting.
Isn't that how you're supposed to eat bread?
Be safer, faster and better to bake your own bread.
Hahahaha
No I have never washed bread.
No food is sterile either
Well, I DID just eat it, but now I'm gonna be paranoid lmao
Better drink some water to be safe.
@Asker I tip my hat to you. Well done. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this entire post.
I've never washed my bread probably cuz it would fall apart
A little bit, but that’s why I always keep bread tape near the sink.
I can understand cleaning the bread bag but if you are cleaning the individual bread slices you should probably get tested for OCD by a psychologist.
Like anything else in packages, we trust it’s clean.
That’s how they get you.
Asker - you nee to be gotten into a mental hospital
I've never heard of this. I mean washing bread makes it soggy and unedible in my opinion.
My tap water doesn't have a water filter on it so I apply purell instead
I really dont see the point in washing the bread, i haven't even done my washing up.
Ya everyone does we all just love soggy bread it's sooo yummy 🤔🤢
Your sarcasm isn’t appreciated in what is obviously a very serious situation.
How is this serious I think ur the only one who likes soggy bread. How's your sandwiches?
I have gotten so much good advice on here though. Some people use their dishwashers to just wash a whole loaf at once. One guy even owns his own bread washer he uses every morning. I should ask more questions like this on here now. You guys are so helpful
My sandwiches are nice and moist, how about yours?
Umm I'm pretty sure all those people are using sarcasm just like me and if I recall I saw u also say I can't believe people actually took this stupid question seriously and my sandwiches are also nice and moist not because of water but because of the butter and a bonus is that it doesn't fall apart in my hand when I eat it
What are you talking about? You can’t put butter on wet bread. Lipids are hydrophobic
I never said I was putting butter on wet bread I said I put butter on my bread to make it moist never will I ever "wash" my bread
Well, if you like the taste of dirty bread that’s on you, just don’t try to drag me down to your level.
Why waste the yeast! Those to slices you are washing I could make a loaf
Uh… what?
Always. Either with hand sanitizer or dish soap, gotta make sure it is indeed properly clean
Right? At least some people get it.
Fun fact: that likely makes it fall apart.
Sometimes, but that’s why I always keep bread tape by the sink.
@AmandaYVR my uncle ate cereal with orange juice. He regretted that.
Yeah, I have also seen people use beer and water in cereal… both of which are worse than washing your bread.
@AmandaYVR Vodka enhances the flavor and texture of the bread.
@AmandaYVR No no, she has a point. it will also help sterilize it.
@AmandaYVR Have you not been paying any attention? the whole point is to remove the mold!.
@AmandaYVR in Russia Vodka solves everything
@AmandaYVR You have been talking all day but you haven’t actually explained anything. The US FDA has strict regulations on how much of what is allowed in different products. There is no cost effective method of making something completely free of foreign substances so they regulate what is an “acceptable amount” this includes insect parts, rat urine, and mold spores. Aspergillus, Penicillium, Fusarium, Mucor and Rhizopus to name a few. Many fungal spores have a protective outer layer making them quite resistant to otherwise deadly environments, a layer than dissolves under the right conditions such as those found in a nice loaf of bread. That is why even when still sealed in the bag bread can start to grow mold, it didn’t get there by magic. It was always there, just too small to see. That’s why you should always wash your fucking bread!
@AmandaYVR the Asker needs a Himalayan salt lamp in her life...
@AmandaYVR I’m either completely nuts, or I’m just really good at making people think I am. You decide.
And that’s okay, I don’t actually drink.
@AmandaYVR 7 is good enough, I can feel her vibe through the screen, its a bad vibe.
Asker - you need mental help before you swallow the bread , the tape and the kitchen sink too
This whole thread has me dying 🤣
Yeah, but at least you aren’t dying from dry bread.
Yes, I use a dry shampoo.
Oh, that’s really smart. I should try it.
Nah that's pretty weird
Not as weird as eating dirty bread.
I prefer to boil mine for sanitation
Oh, that’s really smart.
i bake my own bread so nope
Yes cause I love it soggy 🤤
Fuck yeah!
I wanna know who tf out here washing bread
Why in the hell you will wash the bread?
Of course I do! That's really the only way tbh.
We have never washed breads before.
No. I wash it AFTER eating it.
That sounds counterproductive.
It's economic thinking: I combine two cleaning processes - and thus save water.
Whoever thought of this question... well played!
just rebake /heat is fine. Why wash?
What's your username?
@Agape93 nope nope nope. But you know me. Quack!
@eabstuq both the girls in your tree are very odd, ones blocked me and I've never spoken to her before (I've only recently joined) and the pink anon thinks she's a duck
