Do you wash your chicken?

Wtf?
There is literally no point in “washing”chicken breasts/meat. I’ve never even heard of that 😆 weird.
At one point I was a trained cook in the military working in a dining hall. I cooked for hundreds and hundreds of guys and are trained to do so. Do you really think the military wants people to get food borne pathogens? That effects the mission. If your fighter pilots come down with food poisoning that’s your ass.
All you have to do with chicken is cook it to 165 degrees Fahrenheit. 165 is the magic number. Any pathogens and bacteria are cooked off at that temperature.
How do you know? If you want to be really sure use a thermometer. Yes. I did temperature checks on food, frequently. But the chicken should be cooked thoroughly throughout, with no blood or anything too membrane-looking/soft. Over cooked chicken gets dried out and a little tough and chewy, but you can be certain it’s safe.
But washing chicken? No. Just no. You’re literally spreading bacteria around in your sink and around it.
I always cook to 165+ degrees F (or ~74 degrees C) which made me think it's pointless to wash first. With chicken, I'm extra careful with the internal temperature. I'm extra careful with chicken, pretty careful with pork, and with beef, I'm like "whatever" (unless it's minced).
I wash veggies always but I did that more with the assumption of pesticides being absorbed than germs.
Yeah there is literally no point In washing it, all the bacteria will die while cooking
Exactly!! Plus washing it removes some of the natural flavors.
I seriously was expecting "chicken" to be a euphemism for something. Never mind! :D

No, and read that you shouldn't? I'm not sure if it was the sink reason or something else? But the heat cooking them will kill any bacteria. I've never had any issue from it.
That sound like wasting of time to wash it if you are going to burn it.
true the heat could kill the germs
erm... this is why you have a wash bowl and antibacteria wipes you dumbass.
You should also skin the chicken as that is where most of the fat and bacteria is.
Maybe with water but not with Dawn liquid antibacterial soap
no, i jus cook it, im not a fairy.. we use to eat meat raw before we discovered fire you know?
i think cooking is enough
If the so called bacteria on chicken is real, no amount of tap water is going to remove it.
LOL i dont know because there’s different type of bacteria and they react different to certain things so.
No. I like the extra flavor. But I DO marinate it.
I never wash my chicken but in the past, I heard you were supposed to do so
No she does a good job of keeping her feathers clean.
I'm torn on this. Because I was raised that you wash it. But I've since learned that actually the only thing that does is spread possible bacteria around your kitchen. I don't wash it now.
I wash the chicken and clean the sink. I do it to rinse off the impurities.
It would also be hypocritical for those who washes their vegetables before they cook it which is an even more common thing to do.
you do watch your kitchen sink often.. right?
the dishes not the sink everyday
No it can cause food poisoning.
Yeah, they say don’t. It’s getting cooked anyway.
I hot water rinse it.
Yes, I rinse it off before cooking it.
Yes always
I dip mine in clorox
