Is black coffee an acquired taste?

Then why are you drinking it? Lol. Some people prefer it that way over adding things to it. Depends on personal taste.

It can depend on which coffee your drinking. If it's like Maxwell House or Folgers that use robusta beans then the taste my not be to your liking. Robusta beans tear up my stomach and taste acidly to me.

If you are drinking coffee from 100% arabica beans, you may have to try coffee from other regions of the world. Costa Rican or Sumatran coffee have a mild smooth taste great for after supper. Guatemalan or Ugandan coffee has a more stronger flavor great for the afternoon and then Kenya AA or true Mocha Java both have a great sharp taste to them good for your first cups to wake you up.

Forgot to add that if you're drinking coffee from a Starbucks outlet, your taste buds may have been destroyed.

i've always had weak taste buds so for me black coffee tastes very mellow, even the french and italian roasts. Then again i need 3 layers of garlic on my pizza so there's that too. No wonder I gravitate towards the stronger flavors of the far east, central america, and southern Europe.

I think the most logical question is why would be still drinking it then?
Anyways drinking coffee blacknor with tea is preference in USA or say western countries coffee is usually balck some people do drink it with milk, in Asian counties like India Pakistan Burma and Nepal coffee is always with milk and good amount of sugar
Same with the tea many Asian people drink tea with milk but in india and Pakistan people drink black tea as well,

Some people claim it is, as bitterness is usually a sign for poisonous plant, and our body doesn't like it.

But we grow attached to it, as it wakes us up, and we starting to like it.

Yeah I think so. I prefer to drink coffee with some type of milk but I can drink it black

I like straight black, but I am prone to adding a splash of milk to cut down the affect it has on my stomach.

I think so, just like tea with no sugar and beer OMG when I first tasted it I thought of was gross.
