If they did a good job then yes it is rude. But sadly there seems to be a correlation between bad waiters and automatic tips. Personally, we just pay the tip and never come back

A 'Service Charge' is not imposed at restaurants in the UK, however if you wish to leave a tip because you appreciate the service you may.
