Was this rude of the waiter to do?

My boyfriend and I went to this Greek restaurant and the waiter/ owner was insisting for my boyfriend to pay for me and he was refusing to do separate bills for us…. was it rude of the waiter to impose that on my boyfriend? Or was it rude that my boyfriend didn’t wanna pay for me due to the fact that he couldn’t afford the whole entire bill?

ps - my boyfriend and I go 50/50 but occasionally he will treat me…

Some restaurants have a policy of not splitting bills. Just have someone pay and the other person gives them money for it. Not a big deal.

Oh well that certainly falls in the none of his business camp. All the same, I don't try to explain life to the help. Just have your boyfriend pay, pay him back, tell the manager on your way out why you won't be back.

Your boyfriend shouldve picked up the bill that one time and told the waiter “well you just lost your tip”. But i agree with 50/50 the majority of the time

It was rude of the waiter to assume that you two don't already have something in place about paying these types of things.

You should never assume when you are a waiter, for all he knew, you were taking him out for a birthday or maybe celebrating a new job or position.
