The egg was laid by something that was not a chicken, but very similar to a chicken (due to evolution).
What confuses people is our simplistic means of labeling. The fact of the matter is that what we regard as "chickens" (as well as any other animal) are constantly changing with each and every birth. But since we can't reasonably name each and every chicken, or each and every generation of chickens, we simplify it all by referring to a large section of their evolutionary development as "chickens." Despite there being very subtle differences between each chicken and each generation of chickens.
The "thing" that came before a chicken is only labeled differently because we happened to place it outside of what we currently call "chicken." And we easily could have simply included it within our label of "chicken."
Like let's just say what came before chickens is called a "chickosen." If you go all the way back to the very last chickosen, that gave birth to the "chicken" their offspring is not going to appear any different than its chickosen parents. And that's because it IS hardly different. We just happened to make that the "cutting point" of what is and isn't chicken.
And that's why people have a difficult time thinking the egg came first, because they imagine something notably different giving birth to a chicken that is clearly different from it, which is not the case at all.
Egg.
The egg was an egg of an indirect link between the hen and the species it evolved from
egg
because if you think about it- cells are like eggs. I mean we can see some similarities and everything came from the big burst of energy or matter, and cells and organisms evolved and morphed, to have more defined shapes and size variations.
All the developed species then mated and began creating more of their kind, for generations and millennia.
this question has been around for many, many years, so I say this,
the egg, because long before there were chicken's, there were eggs, not exactly this, but let's say, a duck and a turkey, mated, from that egg came forth a chicken, this taken a quick way but over a period of thousand years, this could have been how, look where birds came from

The egg. “Chickens evolved from non-chickens through small changes caused by the mixing of male and female DNA or by mutations to the DNA that produced the zygote. These changes and mutations only have an effect at the point where a new zygote is created. That is, two non-chickens mated and the DNA in their new zygote contained the mutation (s) that produced the first true chicken. That one zygote cell divided to produce the first true chicken. Prior to that first true chicken zygote, there were only non-chickens. The zygote cell is the only place where DNA mutations could produce a new animal, and the zygote cell is housed in the chicken's egg. So, the egg must have come first.”
I read somewhere that they answered this.
Chicken eggs have a specific enzyme in the shells that can only be incorporated into the shell by the uterus of a chicken. Therefore, the chicken had to have come first.
The precursor to chickens would have had to have laid a pre-chicken egg, but the embryo would have ended up being born with a mutation that made it the first chicken. Then that chicken would have started laying more chicken eggs.
The progenitor of the chicken had sex with another species and laid the egg that became the first chicken or was a mutation of the previous species, that was known as the first chicken.
So the egg came first and the first chicken hatched out of it. It's not rocket science.
You Ask: Which came first the chicken or the egg?
My Answer: THE EGG CAME FIRST.
You Ask: What Laid The Egg?
My Answer: A HEN.
it has been proved time ago for the egg to be "first"
from a relegious standpoint, The chicken, God created adam and eve as adults so we could assume god made a chicken before he made the egg (if god directly created a chicken), from a biological standpoint the egg.
Sience allready answered that question. The egg came first since the chicken was a mutation that developed in the previous species. Since mutations happen while dna is build the egg has to have come first
Well it all goes back to the first cell on earth right. However it started didn’t start with an egg. Lol. But what is an egg? Lol
Egg, becasue the chicken was a mutation of an ancestor that had better survivablity. The modern chicken started as an egg.
Eggs can’t hatch themselves. If the egg came first, the chicken would never have a chance to exist.
Chicken. Because the chicken has a protein that is needed to make an egg.
obviously the egg came first. cause eggs existed way before chickens existed.
That is the question.
Simples...
The chicken: Genesis 6:15-20.
Neither, the rooster came first.
/s lol
Your dad. Ask your mom.
I think God created chicken first
Egg. Evolved from reptiles.
The Egg.
U can't have a chicken before the egg
