My wife found them at BJs for 99 cents a pound. She got two 19 pounders.

My family living on a ranch, when I go home for Thanksgiving we go hunting for the wild ones on the property.

Although last year, I took off on the ATV when down a dirt road and one ran out and I ran over it.

We had it for Thanksgiving.

That is a great story/ My father used to keep a burlap bag in his car. One day he was coming home from work and there was a lot of traffic. He saw a bunch of turkeys on the median strip so he pulld over and goes over and puts the burlap bag over on of them. He killed it and we had it for dinner. It really was not that good.

Wild ones have been genetically modified like what you buy in the stores that have been designed to have larger breasts and good parts. Wild ones are often like any other critter living in the wild. Scrawny and small... but this one was pretty good, just wasn't much to it.

I could only find 25 lbers. That's usually the size I look for, but this year we have less mouths to feed.

Update: Went to multiple stores and found they each had only a small amount of turkeys available. In my panic, I drove 30 minutes back to the only store with Butterball (they only had 5 or 6 turkeys) and $60 later I took one home.

more leftovers. The last two years we have cooked two smaller turkeys. One we have for dinner and the other is for leftovers.

When my kids were little we shopped there a lot. You can buy extra large boxes of cookies and soda. The meat is generally good and things like batteries are a good buy.

My work gives one to every employee in November and again December. I currently have 2 turkeys because a co-worker didn't want theirs. I also don't want them and will probably give them away to friends and family.

We don't have room to store a turkey for almost three weeks. Never had a problem waiting till later and still getting a turkey. And after having turkey for Thanksgiving, we usually reserve a Honey Baked Ham for Christmas, already spiral cut, seasoned, and ready to cook.
