Should I put mozzarella cheese in this recipe?

So today we learned a wonderful pasta recipe at the hotel, you use pasta, pesto, chicken and mushroom. I’m worried the pesto will clash with the grated cheese, do you put cheese in your pasta?

I would toss the pasta lightly in the pesto and lay it over a thin layer of Parmesan cream sauce (Alfredo)… I’d add the Parmesan to this white sauce instead

Yes, just some real parmesan on top. I've made that pesto chicken pasta before and it tastes great with the sharp parm on it.
