First I assume we all agree if a burger is taller than a big mac then it should be eaten with a knife and fork. We are after all civilised human beings and not farm animals. There's nothing worse than seeing someone trying to eat a tall burger like it's a sandwich

But even with a knife and fork if a burger is too tall it just falls apart into a mess. I reckon 4 inches is the maximum height for a burger, even with a wooden stick in the middle.

Anything taller is just a tacky gimmick. If you want bigger proportions make it wider.

The purpose of the hamburger on a bun was to make it convenient for a person to carry around and eat it. With out a fork. With the size of the hamburgers you almost have to have a fork and a knife.
