Have you been to a buffet since the pandemic?

Have you been to one in general? Would you ever go back? Have you never been to one? Do you ever want to go to one? As a kid, I loved going to buffets because of the variety but more so because most of our buffets were at the casino and gave me an excuse to be on the floor and see all the slots and winners! After childhood, I only went once as an adult. It was yummy minus the uncomfortable chairs. I kind of want to go to one this month, but I’m a bit OCD. I just dont feel comfortable eating off the plates/utensils/cups. Some places don’t clean them well (especially the pizza parlors we went to as a kid). I also hate to touch the serving spoon that many other guests just touched. I mean I shouldn't be bothered since I can sit in a casino (wearing a mask) touching the same machines as unmaskless people who never sanitize their hands and blow their cigarette smoke in your face. But I don't know i’m tempted, i’d just take my own utensils lol and maybe some gloves when touching the serving spoons. For $50+ a person, it would be nice if they offered plastic utensil options. #FeelFreeToList

I have BUT only the moment the open, when in theory things have been less contaminated. Usually the first customer through the door.

They still have gloves here to handle serving utilities if we want.

What gets me is kids, they usually have signs saying no kids under a certain age 8 or 12, must be accompanied by an adult but parents let their kids who are shorter than sneeze guard go contaminate it all.

Employees never seem to care either.

I will never go on a weekend or when kids are out of school destroying food.

There is also a Mongolian BBQ I go to a few times, as they cook everything I assemble fresh, or a Korean BBQ where I get to cook my own food... they bring you raw meat.

Not a fan of cooking it myself, plus it is way too expensive to have to cook it myself.

I had at least 11 buffet meals cause I was on vacation in an all inclusive Mexican resort January 31st to February 7th. The rest was either al La carte or fine dining al La carte. The morning buffet was mostly the same food every day and I alternated between yogurt with coconut and granola flakes, egg omelette with changing toppings, sunny side up eggs, and cottage cheese with changing morning smoothies, of which they had around 12 or more varieties to choose from. I also liked their fried mushed beans a lot, especially since we don’t serve that in our family home and sometimes I had pan cake syrup on pan cake style bread. For lunch and dinner, I had beef tacos with lots of salad and tomato and onion and dressing and I had mashed potatoes too.

Of course I enjoyed all-can-eat-buffets, but what would have to be considered is how much a person actually eats versus how much they’re spending.

This has to be considered because not of the food/ leftovers can be taken home. Maybe boxed? But I don’t remember (doubt it, though).

It may be cheaper for someone to make a home cooked meal who would eat that and spend less?

I’ve probably been to a couple of buffets maybe 4-6 times in total, so far, and that’s about it.

I've never been to a buffet but I would like to. Let me tell you that you're brave for mentioning the pandemic and masks. I see so many people on here saying that the pandemic is over, calling you crazy (or worse things) for wearing a mask and attacking you for posting a question about it.
If you don't feel comfortable maybe you shouldn't go now.

My dad is obsessed with buffets as is his whole family apparently. Past summer I went down to Tennessee with my parents for a family trip and I was SO excited to try some good Tennessee cooking. And all I got was fast food and buffets… haha! I was SO disappointed.
I don’t know if you have heard of the Golden Corral but they do a kind of southern style buffet I’m told. We have one near by and my dad eats there almost every time I had to go to the doctors. I swear it is like once or twice a week most months.

I was just at one last week on a getaway, the Hilton had a buffet breakfast and it was really good. Delta Sky Club has buffet most of the day for that preflight meal, also tasty.

I have been to lunch buffet restaurants , when all kind of meats and veggies are served at the same time and all the smells are mixed even though you it's gonna taste good, the smell mix will make me lose my appetite plus i am not a big portion fan. So i avoid buffet, not a big fan

Oh yes. I prefer buffets cause you get way more for your money. I go to them all the time. There's like 8 chinese buffets by me, two Hu Hots, and even a Golden Corral. Cause they're back!!!

The COVID Pandemic did not change my opinion of buffets. I never cared for buffet restaurants. They are not my thing. But I am perfectly willing to eat at one (like, say, if you wanted me to take you there). The fact that restaurants were shut down during COVID didn’t put me off buffets.

Yes got an itlean place that dose it some time on really high qruelity great selection and all freash, great stuff really enjoy the chance to go there and enjoy it

I also went to an Indian lunch buffet a few months ago.

I'm no more afraid of germs now than I was before the manufactured covid hysteria. Normal contact with germs keeps my immune system healthy and on its toes.

I work a lot of events that have buffets- so I've had buffets quite often still- even during the height of the pandemic the few events we still had often had a buffet (although often with individually packaged portions you could pick up). I have also been to a few chinese buffets since in the past few years.

they had seating spaced out hreat food

and the wait staff was around and super helpful

we were purched up on the 11 floor above

had to have room key for evevators and room access

and could not find or get the room safe open

till next morning.

Yeah I’ve been to some and also every marriage party that I attended has a buffet so I’ve been to loads. It feels great getting to choose your food of interest and have it as much as you want.

I’ve had Covid 4 times 😆 so at this point, death will be mercy considering 3/4 were horrible.
They have this really good one called Dragon Pearl in Toronto. They make the best frog legs!

Yes. I stopped of the highway at a restaurant in February of 2021 and the buffet was open. The place was jam packed. I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not a big fan of buffets, but it was nice to see people not living in fear.

Buffet style was already going out of fashion here before covid. The only one I've been to recently was at my cousins wedding last year and more recently went to a restaurant that had a salad bar, but I didn't have anything from it.

I don’t eat at buffets. They’re gross in every conceivable way, even long before a viral pandemic. They’re also terribly overpriced in order to make up for the fat slobs that go and gorge themselves for hours.

There used to be a good one in the next town. It was a brunch buffet. My wife and I used to go a lot ten or 15 years ago. The place went out of business so we have not been to a buffet since then. .

It has never crossed my mind but I'd be hesitant too. A friend's work had it's Christmas party at a pub and nearly everybody got covid afterwards. Good plan on your part.
