Is it too late to go back and tell everyone this is the wrong way to be? White people did the same back then. Let’s not copy them!

When a place says "Black Owned Business" it isn't for other races outside of black to appreciate. They do that because black wall street in Tulsa was burned down. And it has been a struggle for the black community to build up their own businesses so they can aquire generational wealth.
It's easy for other races, especially white, not to care cause the struggle isn't something they actively consider. If you look at most of the billionaires it's a lot of white people. It's extremely hard to name major corporations owned by black people because they weren't given the ability to have such things. That's why we often go into entertainment or sports to aquire riches. But again that's not real wealth with longevity.
While I do agree for the most part businesses should be about the products quality. And some company's overcharge or do extra based off the fact they're black owned. The overall point is so black people can support each others dreams and lift each other up. The message isn't for others unless they're aware of these facts.
The people who did it may be dead but the affects aren't. 1927 wasn't that long ago regarding generations and history.
While I agree that it should not matter if an owner is black or white, putting up this sign is definitely NOT the same thing white people did back then. Back then "Whites Only" meant, whites only. Blacks or other races were not allowed into those establishments and often police were called, or the patrons were literally beaten for even trying to get in. "Black Owned," means just that, and they do not prevent other patrons from entering into their establishments and certainly the police aren't arresting white people or beating them for trying to grab a snack before lunch.
What does this have to do with what was said? You are free to review history books if you need to understand the difference.
There is no future when one is stuck in your Past. Elites, like Stalin said, "will bring America down without shooting one bullet on the back of the Blacks". The are your Equity people with divisive and separation tactics. Asian, African, and Etc-American being the first clear statement of intended Division established by the Democratic Left.
If it was not so sad to watch people self-sacrifice, it would be funny... but it is not funny. Walking into the Left Internement Camp-America part of the North American Compound.
You act like this is something new for the Black community. Go search "colored only, no whites allowed" signs in any image search. But mean old Whitie he's the only one that was segregated and the only one in human history that had slaves. You people are so uneducated... White people fought to stop slavery around the world and shed blood doing it and desegregated societies because those sorts of views while common throughout the world at the time conflicted with the concept of liberty and Christian values.

Black owned businesses are rare so its proudly advertised. Whats dumb is any race who tells another race that they won't serve them because of their race. Like y'all gone down turn money thats being handed to you? Thats wild

These signs are put up in windows so that BLM and Antifa will (hopefully) not loot and burn them down during one of their "mostly peaceful protests." Of course, these signs didn't actually prevent BLM and Antifa from looting or burning down lots of black-owned businesses in Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis, and other places a couple of years ago. And it was largely white college students who made up these BLM and Antifa rioters who looted and burned down these black-owned business. You know, the ones protesting for "black rights."
https://www.youtube.com/embed/iBbPJsNZMPghttps://www.youtube.com/embed/KJJAse2Ip-AYou can't make this shit up.
No, I don't care about the race. But I do care about the culture. I support "Black" owned businesses. But I support many Asian establishments, Latino, Russian, French, "White" American also.
I don't see why this is controversial. If I am going out for soul food, I want an African-American restaurant. I am sure folks from other cultures can do a good job. But I would rather take my chances on the originators of the cuisine called soul food. Same goes for Chinese food. When I go out for Pho Noodles, I would rather go to Korean restaurant. When I go for Puerto Rican Cuban, likewise I would go to a Puerto Ricans and Cubans. Jamaican food? I don't do race, so why would I trust folks simply because they have dark skin to make Jamaican food? I would rather go to a place owned and operated by Jamaicans.
This is just nonsense.
For this very simple reason:

Look at Jan. 6, 2021. Look at some of the morons in Congress, and other fanatics banning books, banning discussions even. Look at Nazi's like DeSantis trying to regulate what you think, and outlaw anyone who speaks against his views in a blog.
When enough people believe in bullshit and tyranny, societies go backwards or never go forwards. Welcome to the USA, and much of the planet, people.
If I owned a buisness close to a college campus I'd put a black owned buisness sign in my window and jack up the price especially a coffee shop where I see all these signs, I'd also charge white students more because of white privledge. Why would I as a white man do this? Because dummies will pay especially white liberal students indoctrinated by the college. They won't even ask if a black person does own the buisness.
I don't pay attention to those signs, I don't care who owns or runs the business if I like it, they have quality products they will get my money otherwise doesn't matter if your white, black, brown or freaking green I won't go somewhere if I don't like it.
We all bleed red people, can we stop this shit already it's 2023 ffs
Exactly right... don't copy the same mistakes.
Wokeism has brought it back though...
The sign gets put in the window in hopes that woke ass ANTIFA white kids that love trannies and obese people won't throw a brick through their window.
I happened to be passing through a predominantly black neighborhood in Chicago in the wake of the Floyd riots; the only businesses with windows left unsmashed were those with multiple prominent "black owned" signs. It's only half about bigotry; the other half is averted another Kristalnacht.
@exitseven The guy who was born Laurence Tureaud legally changed his name to Mister T, because it was the only way a black man could reliably be referred to as "Mister". And that was in the seventies. The NINETEEN seventies.
I find it just mind-boggling that that kind of thing was found to be necessary within living memory. And just heart-breaking that we seem to be going backwards in that department.
I don't care, some people want to go out of their way to support businesses like such which is perfectly ok and having a sign is the easiest way to let people know. I do love a good locally owned and operated business and would appreciate a sign for that.
It’s a struggle for ALL ethnicities to open a business. Saying black owned is indeed pure racist
What if the restaurant said Asian owned? White owned? Was that going to be a big news.
This black thing is going on and be dragged for so long now. With covid and human slavery and mandatory vaccination etc we are all SLAVES. Bringing the past to a 17 years old won’t solve your history.
The dead belongs to the dead.
We aren’t really going backwards from the masses (not easily swayed/manipulated individuals). Unfortunately thought, the politicians (all of them) continue to spout the racism narrative. Why you ask…it is much easier to control the masses if they are divided….
We should be pushing to have all racial request removed from all documentation…meaning, there shouldn’t be a question on any application as to what race you are…. If it doesn’t really matter, then there is no reason to ask….
I have a white owned wallet. If someone is advertizing themselves as a "black owned business" it' sbecause they are racist. I don't spend my money on racist people.
I'd probably avoid that place, not because it is black owned but because they have the sign. If it said, Asian owned, or White owned, I'd also avoid it. When they state that with a sign, I don't need to give them my business at all.
People will say they don't care but many black people do care. And we aren't going backwards. Stop thinking in terms of forwards and backwards. Just accept that tribalism is a part of human nature. All this equality shit we have been working on is false.
I don't care about the owner's race, I just want good food and polite service.
That sign says the owner is racist, no other reason to put it up. I'd go elsewhere even if the food was good.
I just do not care about the race or even gender of the business owner.. Only that they have good service.. Places that loudly advertise it are likely trying to placate the BLM Terrorists. It does not mean i would not go there.. It just means they are pandering.
I give zero shits about the race of the person who owns a business. I care only about how good the business is at meeting my needs as a customer. Do you know why?
BECAUSE I'M NOT A FUCKING RACIST!!!
The people who DO focus on the race of the business owners however. . .
We go out to eat for good food. I care more about being served food that's delicious, the owner's race isn't going to change what I think about the place or anything.
Do you care whether your Italian restaurant is operated by someone from Italy or your Mexican restaurant is operated by someone from Mexco?
I rarely care who owns the restaurant, except in Chinese restaurants. A university colleague used to work in the sanitation office and told me inaudible things about the poor hygiene of Chinese-run restaurants.
The second option obviously, i used to know this couple who were old and purposely went right to the other end of town to shop to avoid foreign owned shops. I like indian restaurants.
racism is on the rise with liberals. people don't understand that "preferring" black people is as racist as "oppressing" black people. it's all "discrimination".
You like most white people are missing the point.
And really it's just your covert racism of wanting minorities to be seen and not heard. Like the good old days.
Wow, what a surprising revelation. Guess what we all have in common? WE are all hosed by classist racewashing.
I went back to my old U for an alumni event a few years ago and one of the dorms is now a "black-themed" dorm. WTF? Now segregation is a good thing?
The more the powers that be can keep us focused on things that separate us, the less likely we are to recognize how those powers are screwing all of us.
I don't care who owns or runs a restaurant. If the food or service is lousy I'm not going back.
History and economics matter. Women and blacks half less of the pie than white men. Nothing for us white men to feel guilty about. But supporting communities who need help is not a bad thing.
Obama made everything about race, the very definition of racism.
I would say that there's a 97% chance this sign is meant to keep BLM from burning the place down like they did in the summer of 2020.
Yes. If I lived in US this sign would tell me "You're not welcome here"
The funny thing is, I will avoid restaurants that feel the need to say Black Owned. They have already told me that they see me through racist eyes.
I care about both things. They are not mutually exclusive.
If the food is outstanding, little grey people from Mars can own it.
Agree 100 percent. If I see a sign like that, I won’t give that business a dime of my money.
It's separate but equal all over again.
Good question. I wish I knew the answer.
