Did you go winkling as a kid?

As kids we'd regularly raid the local rock pools for winkles then toss them in boiling water. When they finished screaming you knew they were cooked. Then you are them with a pin.

But as I got older I stopped eating them. I've noticed plenty of kids these days collecting them but rarely adults. Adults tend to go for cockles and razor clams.

So did you go winkling as a kid?

I remember being bought a (half?) pint of them as a child by my mum and taught how to use the pin. I don't think I've eaten any since (but some snails in France and Portugal).

I’ve been rock pooling when I went to Wales but it wasn’t to really find sea snails. I was more focused on the experience.
