What’s a good cookbook for a recently single gal to help make simple meals?

I lived with my boyfriend of 4 years and he did all the cooking, and I’m not as talented, so I need something simple to help me cook.

If your just learning I suggest going to one of those cheap book discount stores and just having a browse before you buy. They usually have lots of very basic recipe books and are a good starting point.

Avoid anything by celebrity chefs as they always make simple recipes more complicated than need be. I know you're annoyed with Google answers but it's worth looking at the BBC food section. They're not always authentic or the best but usually very basic versions of recipes https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes

Barnes and Nobles has some good cook books. I don’t use them much as I usually find recipes online though
