Do you like macaroni salad?

Macaroni salad is a type of pasta salad, served cold made with cooked elbow macaroni and usually prepared with mayonnaise. Much like potato salad or coleslaw in its use, it is often served as a side dish to barbecue, fried chicken, or other picnic style dishes. Like any dish, national and regional variations abound but generally it is prepared with raw diced onions, dill or sweet pickles and celery and seasoned with salt and pepper.

I've never liked it much. Which, I kind of feel bad about because it's one of my mom's "specialties" and I rarely ever eat it. I'll only eat it if there aren't many other options. 😂

I encounter those salads often on grill parties of my friends. However I prefer potato salads as side dishes with grilled meat.

I like mustard and vinegar, not mayo, though I will throw in DUKE'S light olive oil mayo in a 1:15 ratio with homemade mustard as a small thickener

I contacted Duke's to start selling their mayo here in Canada, but I never heard back from them on the matter. I like the idea of them adding a bit of the yolk to their mayo. Seems like everyone who's had Duke's says it's better than Hellman's/Best Foods.

@Adventurer23 It doesn't even taste like it should be the same product. I don't eat Hellman's and i've never heard of Best Foods, but the mouthfeel and body taste of Duke's is way more significant.

@BoopBoopBeep Hellmans is sold as Best Foods in some regions of the U. S. It even has the same label, just a different name. Not sure why they do that. It's Hellman's up here though.

@Adventurer23 Learn something every day. They don't sell Duke's in the midwest anywhere I've found so I have my mom mail it to me once a quarter.

@BoopBoopBeep Yeah, from what I've heard, Duke's seems to be more of a regional thing in the southeast and other parts of the south. I believe the company is in South Carolina... I think? I can't remember now. I did some searching and it looks like some specialty shops and online retailers are selling Duke's up here in Canada, but they are charging an INSANE amount of money for it. Most of the places I have seen are charging $16-$20 (Canadian) per jar! That's like $12-$15 U. S.! Nuts to that! Just seems like they're severely price gouging people due to the rarity of it up here. Interestingly, from looking online a bit, it seems there is a small, but passionate cult following for Duke's up here for the very few people who know about it. But I sure ain't paying that much when I can get Hellman's (as "inferior" as it may be) for $4 on sale. Anyway, good mayo talk! 😂

I can't eat the store bought stuff. I can only eat the one my wife makes. She doesn't add a lot of vinegar to it.
