+1 yI was SO disappointed in my last pizza. I went to a place for dinner with some family a few days ago that I have been many times before for years that probably has some of the best pizza in the country. It has always been fantastic the other times I went and there is usually has a line even when you have reservations.
After looking over the menu we decided to get the vegetarian pie... something we never had there before. I like veges on my pie so I expected it to be really good.
BUT NO! It totally SUCKED! I was shocked. The pizzas in this place cost a fortune so this really should never happen. But we didn't complain because we just don't do that in my family. We probably should have. I could not believe how bad that was. NO flavor at all, way too much broccoli and spinach... no olives... no onions... barely any peppers... no sauce! ... nothing special at all... and no flavor at all I couldn't even detect a trace of garlic. Even the crust was weak and not tasty or good consistency. Dominos pizzas were better than that thing. I'm still in shock!

Relatable. We got Dominos a wee over a week ago. I don’t know what happened, their pizza was basically Little Caesars level of quality just not as fresh and with garlic added. Now it’s just hunks of melted wax and expired dough that tastes like ass cheeks. They were the only pizza chain that could compete with Little Caesars and now they’ve destroyed themselves like William Afton in FNAF.

"Now it’s just hunks of melted wax and expired dough that tastes like ass cheeks."
🤣🤣🤣
Dominos used to make their pizzas really garlicy which for me is perfect. It was my favorite part of their pizzas. Since covid they seemed to have stopped the garlic altogether. Just doesn't do it for me anymore. Fortunately I live in a place that has a large Italian population. Lot's of good places to get pizza. But now you have to spend $50 or more to get the good ones. Have to take out a mortgage on the house before going to a restaurant. And the interest is 8%+ !
- +1 y
I don’t know much about mortgage but that sounds like it’s exorbitant. But goodness gracious, $50 for a dog Jamm pizza? Does it have golden pepperonis or something? I remember the days when you get a top quality pizza for 5 or 8 dollars. And I’m not talking way back in 1993, this was probably sometime about 4 years ago.

Indeed. And I think it is going to get worse. Two wars and all time record consumer debt. It's the textbook scenario for runaway inflation.

But over here pretty much every pizza is New York. You can get Nea at some fancy places.
Then we have fake Chicago pizza which is nothing alike but still nice.
So mostly I eat New York but real Chicago ones would be perfect.00 Reply

+1 yI picked detroit, but I actually like round & fluffy pan crust pizzas cut into triangles. Especially if it's cheesey stuffed crust.

Triangles or sectors?
- +1 y
@HippieVeganJewslim Triangles. I only like square pizza if it's like the frozen pizzas or a flatbread (yes, I know flatbread isn't the same as pizza, but they are similar). But I definitely like triangle shaped pizza better.
- +1 y
45°-45°-90°? Remember when a round pizza is cut into eight slices, each slice is a sector, not a triangle. A triangle consists of three straight sides and the crust is circular. If a pizza is cut into eight triangle slices, the whole pizza is shaped like an octagon, not a circle.
+1 yI only know Chicago which is deep dish and I like that one. I also like the thin based.

In Italy the styles of pizza are different
Classic Neapolitan cartwheel-shaped pizza

Modern Neapolitan or canotto (dinghy) pizza

Pizza al Metro (meter) in Vico Equense

Pizza Romana or scrocchiarella

Pizza al taglio

What I like more is modern Neapolitan or canotto, but I eat pizza al metro more frequently.

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yPut me down for Detroit style. Even though I was born in Detroit and am a Michigan native, I am surprised by my own answer. My family - on my mother's side - is Italian and very particular about their food.
You don't think of Detroit and pizza in the same sentence, but it really is good. Whoda thunk it?

+1 yNone of the above, I prefer homemade with fresh made thin crust and lots of toppings to taste. If I wanted to fill up on crust I could eat fresh made top quality authentic Calabrese bread from the local Italian bakery for much less money.

00 ReplyThe New York kind where you fold it in half and the cheese just melts in your mouth. Not too thick nor too thin.

Opinion Owner+1 yHow so what?

You said that the other options aren’t really pizza. How so?
Opinion Owner+1 yJust because something has a base made of wheat flour and has sauce and ceese on it doesn't make it pizza.
Pizza is what was invented in Naples, Italy. It's cooked very hot and fast, usually in less than two minutes. What is called "pizza" in Chocago or Detroit is no more pizza that a quesadilla is pizza.- +1 y

It's just a matter of definitions. Some people would say that anything with pineapple and ham is not pizza. Or anything without red sauce is not pizza.
