I like to make Mondays be "Meatless Monday", so, after I had this first pie (shown below), I often would get another one on Mondays. To me, I always try to make pizza be a vegetarian meal.

I bought this pie on Tuesday 09 JUL 2019 from a place in Bloomington CT called Michael John's Pizza.

This pie is a large Neopolitan with roasted red peppers, white onions, with my adding oregano.

I haven't been in Connecticut July 2020 when I went home because of COVID-19, but, if I went back, I'd order it again. With current prices...

A large (18-inch round) mozzarella pie with red sauce ($16.85)
White onions ($3.00)
Roasted red peppers ($4.00)

So, that would be $23.85 before taxes.

My wife is obsessed with pepperoni on her pizzas and generally has meat on hers. As I mentioned, if I get a separate pizza, I prefer to make it a vegetarian meal so I try and order the above wherever I can.

My wife grew up in the Saint Louis (STL) Missouri area and didn't even know what real pizza was until she moved to the northeast with me.

Saint Louis-style pizza is... well,... it's not pizza, but more of an "Italian nachos" made with a frankencheese called Provel. That's what she grew up with so when she had her first real pizza, she blurted out "What is this?"
I said "Pizza."
"No, it's not."
I laughed and was puzzled and again retorted,
"Yes, it is. I don't know what you're thinking, but this is pizza."
"Well, it's not like the pizza I grew up with."
"What do you mean?"
"We have [*] and it's not like this."
... and then she tried to describe "STL-style pizza".

I had to visit Saint Louis to learn what a horror-show STL-style pizza is. It's an acquired taste; not bad, but not a real pizza like the one in this picture.

Since we have native STL friends like my wife who never knew what real pizza was like, I took that picture above and shared it on Facebook.

I am a native NYer living now in the STL area, so I just couldn't take STL-style pizza anymore and had to find a place that had real pizza. Fortunately, my wife lived in the northeast long enough to learn that real pizza is vastly superior to STL-style pizza. So now we generally have to drive about 50 miles each way to get a real pizza at a NY-style pizzeria called Racanelli's.

Pepperoni, cheese, sauce, sausage, mushrooms, black olives, green peppers, onions… Also, where I live they have Fox Pizza which I found makes excellent pizza.
