I think brussel sprouts taste is between cabbage and broccoli but also not the same. It has its own taste. Some people dont like it but if you cook right, it tastes really good. When you cook it good I think it tastes sweet and salty and a little bit nutty if you dont overcook them. My favorite cooking way is roasting them but you also can try other methods like boiling or frying. But if you want to roast, roast them in the oven until they're crispy and adding a bit of seasoning like salt, pepper, and maybe a dash of garlic make them really tasty. It is very easy and delicious. Also healthy.
Difficult to say. Just buy 500g frozen ones. Cook them 10 minutes in salty water. Melt two spoons butter in a pan, put in one spoon bread crumbs and roast it gold brown. Put cooked beansprouts in the pan and coat it with roasted bread crumbs.
When you're more advanced in cooking sauce holandaise or sauce bearnaise fit good to beansprouts.
Frozen ones tend to be more sweet while fresh ones tend to have more of bitterness.
Don't overcook your fairy cabbages and they're fine. The bad rep is because old varieties were bitter unless the plants had a little frost on them.
Just trim a little of the stalk off, ignore nonsense about cutting a cross, and boil hard until you can stick a knife in and not until they're mushy.
Theu taste a bit nutty and like a strong tasting cabbage. I like to oven toast them with butter, salt and pepper and then when on my plate cover them with a nice rich extra sharp cheddar cheese sauce. Ummm... so good. I grow them on my garden as fresh picked out of the garden is when they taste best.
If only boiled or sautaed..
.. like iron, earthy, a bit bitter but mild, reminds slightly of cabbage. If salted then less bitter or not at all. It's a great replacement for potatoes or carbs in general if eating something more fancy or if just avoiding carbs.
A good cheap go-to for me.

They're really good if you cook them in a butter sauce with seasonings. I can't describe the flavor, but I do love them! They're like mini cabbages. Green Giant brussel sprouts are good if you're looking for a quick option (the do come in butter sauce). I've never liked the grilled way some places do with bacon bits, seems like they kill them that way.
I really enjoy Brussel sprouts although I'm at a loss to describe their flavor. The closest analogy I can think of is like miniature cabbage with a soft texture, not at all crunchy, slightly bitter. It also has a mild earthy taste, kind of like kale. I really have a hard time describing it and had to Google for help. 😅
If you enjoy things like kale and broccoli and cabbage, I think there's a chance you might like them.
To me it's like being able to eat an entire miniature head of cabbage in one bite, but with the cabbage taste being milder and more earthy and slightly bitter taste instead. I really enjoyed it including when I was a kid when other kids hated it. The main veggie/fruit I had difficulty appreciating for a long time was eggplant. That was an acquired taste for me, but I liked brussel sprouts even the first time I tried them.
Brussel sprouts taste like Brussel sprouts, just as gator tastes like gator, and frog legs taste like frog legs.
The only way to know is by eating them, as far as I'm concerned.
I happen to like gator and frog legs.
Brussel sprouts, not so much.
If you try them and you don't like them, my wife will finish them off for you.
She loves them.
Cheers!!!
I for one love steaming them, then little salt, pepper and butter. They do have a very different texture and taste which you are either going to love or hate. Unfortunately I'm the only one of my immediate family that cares for them, but fortunately you can buy them piece at a time so I do get the option of picking up a handful once in a while for myself while I fix green beans or carrots for the rest of my brood.
Depends on how you prepare them. I usually like to bake them just to soften them up and brown them. Little bit of salt pepper and butter and they are delicious.
One other thing, Brussels sprouts, broccoli cauliflower and a few other veggies are all from the same plant, they have been selectively bred to produce different or more desirable traits but they all have the same parent plant genetically.
They now taste like tiny flavorful cabbages. In the old days, they were supposedly very bitter.
Sadness and misery.
Like an off lettuce and cabbage mixed together with a tang to of weirdness. Itβs honestly hard to explain.
Not that good. Kinda earthy, pungent, a bit bitter. If you want to try them my advice is bake them after adding olive oil, salt, pepper and rosemary. Makes it a far better flavor
Check a recipe and try it. You might like it.
Mildly bitter with a slight sweetness.
I love brussel sprouts. Especially with lemon juice and butter.
My mom cooks them in a very good way. They taste great
They taste like they smell, like well-worned wet socks.
I think I only tried brussel sprouts once. I think they have a distinctive sour taste.
similar bit to cabbage just can be more salty
I guess like green lettuce with vitamins taste
I eat them with fish, especially salmon
Like cabbage. It's literally a tiny cabbage
