Does one eat scones open or closed?

For afternoon tea, one enjoys baking a few scones to serve with clotted cream and strawberry jam alongside the Earl Grey. But the ladies and I have recently debated on whether or not a scone should be eaten whole or as two separate halves.

We've already come to a truce over the jam v cream first debate but it's a fragile one and this could lead to WW3 if it's not solved.

I've never opened up a scone before. But ours are triangles and a little bit hard pieces of bread with a sweet flavor like fruit, chocolate, or vanilla. But your scones look really good, almost just like a strawberry shortcake except its bread.

Tbh they should be always open, unless you are looking for a prospective girlfriend.
then you serve them well stacked with jam n cream and closed.

this serves solves two things

the jam n cream dilemma and also a good check on her oral skills

if she can manage a fully stacked n filled closed scone, she is going to be a 1st class cock swallower and can handle the cream.

I went with closed since it seems easier to eat with the hands. Or are these supposed to be eaten with fork and knife? If so, open seems easier. I want to eat with the hands though so closed seems easier, like a hamburger.

You can get that in Edeka, clotted cream is trickier!

Just put whipping cream into a bowl, lower it into barely simmering water and stir occasionally. It only takes a couple of hours.

And here in the UK there's is only One Cream you can use, and that is Rodda's Cornish Clotted Cream... And I believe the expression is A Gurt Big Dollop!

It's made with unpasteurised milk. Even though the cooking temp is longer and higher.

Open. And they should be taken with Assam, English Breakfast or English Afternoon blend by Twinings due to Earl Grey being properly taken with lemon - making it totally unsuitable for accompanying a scone with clotted cream, butter and jam 🤔🤣

That's a biscuit where I come from and we eat ours sandwich style with butter and jelly or jam where I'm from.
