ah yes like "bat soup" even batman doesn't eat that.

china has several major problems one major issue is water. not enough rain for agriculture and limited "river area," and chemicals in river all make watering feilds difficult. they bring water from southern mountains far to north east but limited.

china eats all its own chicken and livestock almost to extinction and can't grow enough of its own wheat in north nor rice in south for 1.4 billion people so china IMPORTS huge amounts of chicken and giant amounts of rice.

so they are forced to eat whatever is there bats or grosser.

the last 2 years china population shrank more than it grew but even losing 2 million each year, like 2022, still after 200 years still have a billion to feed. so eat anything.

Look at where China is. You have access not only to local crops (which are varied, since the country is enormous; fourth biggest in the world), but those of central and northern Asia as well. A huge range of food is available, and that's what shielded them against crop failures- a single famine would have to be apocalyptic to break Chinese government down at any point during their history, and then it would quickly rebuild. That's why China has retained so much cultural unity throughout its history; it's not the culture or the genetics, it's the plants.

Chinese people come from a land that requires diversity in food to keep all the farmers busy and the people well fed. I believe the dietary diversity is one reason Chinese people look so young and have such positive outcomes in Academia.
