I cannot shop when I am hungry like that even if I have a list. It's not like I get too much, I either put some things away or leave the store.
Ok. 20 years teaching. Always told my seniors to NEVER go food shopping with housemates hungry. Hit the diner first. EVERY student I kept in touch with said that I was a fucking genius and they don't remember shit from my class but that tidbit. Good times!
I usually only get what I went for with an occasional impulse buy if I spot something I hadn't been thinking about or never saw before and thought I'd give it a try.
Ah, you've hit the nail on the head! Being a flavor hunter, I've made that rookie mistake of grocery shopping on an empty stomach more than I care to admit. And, oh boy, does it turn into a culinary adventure! Suddenly, every aisle is a goldmine, and I end up with a cart that looks like I'm prepping for a gourmet apocalypse. 🍽️😅 Italian pastas, Japanese snacks, you name it, they somehow find their way into my cart. I've learned to snack before I shop now. Keeps me and my wallet in a much happier place!

I go to the store with a shopping list and just buy what is not the list. I might gerab a bottle of Pepsi on the way out.
About the same I will get when I’m not hungry.
I'm the same and the opposite after eating.
