1 yI'm sure plenty of people will play it out to genetics. Well, I lived in Japan for over 10 years and I've lived here in America for the rest. It's not just genetics. The culture here has us driving to go get something to eat... there, you're probably walking a lot or at least on a bicycle for most of the journey. When you get to the 7/11 you're not going to find the same shit. Raw fish on rice is way different than the bullshit you'll get out of a 7/11 here in the states. If you know then you know, shit in our 7/11's are far from raw fish on rice.
They eat a shit ton of that white rice too. Me... I'm a meat eater but I'd look at them literally plopping 1 to 2 cups of that stuff in disgust. I just ordered meat items.
I'll put it this way... a vending machine there isn't going to basically have nothing but soda. You got tea, coffee, and other options. We can barely eat anywhere and get those options. I can name more times than I have fingers to count where water was simply not an option where I am having to eat here in the states. It is a long call from the times I was eating ko ko's curry in japan and water was basically your option.
It's a combo of the diet and movement of the physical body. The fat asses here don't walk most of the time just to go eat. The options of what to eat is some bullshit that's mass manufactured in seed oils and salts with tons of sugar drinks to wah it down with. I remembered doing the math on my grocery trip there (buying for myself and 3 other people). 3 miles there and back. A backpack (the big hiking backpack) and a roller cart is what I would pull for 1.5 miles of it. Let's just be real... most of the fat Americans don't walk 0.5 miles/day. They just don't. They drive, walk as little as possible, and then go back to sitting somewhere. Reality check... they walk like less than 0.1 miles/day. After my first year I went from 280 lbs. to 200lbs of hard muscle.

Here is what 200lbs me looks like All in all it's not just genetics. Put yourself in their lifestyle, with their eating habits... yeah, you won't be fat either. Eat all the white rice you want or like me drink beer excessively... that picture is pure alcoholic prime of myself in my late 30's. I drink constantly and look better than most because I actually move. You might notice the difference even in the Asian community, the fat ones do what, and the skinny ones stuck to some other habits.

@Inbox 😂 🤣 Yeah, or how they always get stuck in the way of other people and make that beeping noise when they back up. I remember when that beeping noise was applied to fat people as a joke... now though... it literally is reality.

Because white rice isn’t that bad for you , it’s actually good for you if you don’t over eat it in one sitting , Don’t listen to all the nonsense you see and read about on social media about foods , it’s all a money making bullshit pitch so you buy into a supplement or work out plan , if it’s asking for money? It’s pretty much Bullshit. that sadly a lot of people fall for. As long as you exercise and don’t over indulge yourself every time you eat , drink plenty of water and don’t over indulge yourself you will lose weight and gain muscle. And yes everyone’s. Body is different based of of genetics , so don’t compare yourself to other people , social media was designed as a money making tool to try to make you believe in certain things to make money. Don’t fall for any of that bullshit. If you want to drop some pounds , start being active , don’t sit around , keep yourself moving , our bodies need food for energy , Pocture yourself as a car , you need gas to move , so you need food to move , if you fill a car up with gas and don’t drive it , that gas will just sit there in the tank , if you eat food and just sit there , the food will just turn to fat because you aren’t using it. Instead you are storing it like a hamster stores food in it’s cheeks. Trust me it’s easy to be lazy and sit on front of a tv or playing on your phone , if you put that shit aside and focus on other things and yourself , you will burn fat like no tomorrow if you are consistent with it. Don’t fall for all the shit you see on tv or social media. And don’t compare yourself to other people. Focus on yourself and stay active , you want pizza eat pizza, you want candy , eat candy , but move yourself and burn that shit

I think it's because their body got used to the white rice, they also have inherited fast metabolism. I know that the nursing home that I worked at, there were some Asian people and most of them had diabetes.. so they must be very careful. I'm Asian and I could literally eat fried chicken everyday, and only gain a bit of weight but not even noticeable. My body also tells me enough is enough, like if I eat too unhealthy i'd get migraines.

1 yBecause in some of those countries they do a lot of walking around and are pretty active. Therefore, they burn off a lot of the carbs they have eaten throughout the day.

Hey, I'm James, here on Girls Ask Guys, sharing my insights and experiences on food and more. As a flavor hunter who's tried meals from around the world, I've often wondered about the same question. From my journeys, I've noticed that in Asian diets, moderation is key. White rice is usually consumed in controlled portions, often paired with vegetables and lean proteins, creating a balanced meal. Plus, the lifestyle in many Asian countries includes more physical activity as part of daily routines, like walking or biking to work. It's not just about the white rice but the whole lifestyle and diet approach that helps maintain a healthy weight. 🍚🥦🚴

There are 204 calories in a cup of cooked rice. The average consumption in Asia is 4 cups of cooked rice a day. That's 816 calories. So to answer you're question, because most Asians are starving to death slowly. My skinny little brother experienced this when he was living in Japan studying Japanese. They basically ate just white rice in vegetables for every single meal and slept on the floor on futons. As he put it, you are always hungry and constipated. It's monotonous torture.
01 ReplyThey eat a poorer carbon diet and less. You ever notice how short Asians generally are in Asia compared to America and how much fatter Asians jn America are compared to Asians in Asia. That's because American Asians eat that American diet of too much unhealthy fast food washed down with a bucket of sugary Soda pop.
At the moment Disney among others are trying to promote fat Asians and normalise obesity to Asia but the Asians are rejecting it.

1 ybecause white rice, contrary to myth doesn't cause gain, bread is carbs starch = the best energy source. not bad not cause overweight. you proved it.
the problem is amounts! n fatty snax n mass sugar cola drinks. so around 20% of age 8 are ALREADY obese here n more kids "also fat but less than obese". by age 18, more obesity 22%. but not due to starch.

1 yWe just walk and move a lot everyday. 😄 Not everyone here have cars so they have to commute. But many people I know have Diabetes, so white rice is not really recommended in the long run. (Replaced mine with brown/red rice)

1 yI’m Asian. Asians often control their portions. A healthy serving of white rice is about a fist full. Asians eat multiple servings a day. The thing is, they often don’t eat anymore after that. The Asians I know tend to starve themselves after eating rice because of the fat shaming in Asian cultures. The Asians I know who don’t starve themselves are chubby or fat from eating rice with everything, plus the sugary Asian drinks.
00 Reply863 opinions shared on Food & Beverage topic. Rice is acutally not that bad for you. I was gluten free for a few years and ate lots of rice/rice products, same with corn and it completely got rid of all my bloating and I lost lots of weight

1 y-Asians tend to be petite/slim and tend to walk more in their daily lives than a lot of Western people
-Their diet as a whole is more natural than most Western people's, and usually eat fresh made food rather than something readymade or fast food
-In Asia 'fat shaming' is normal so people are incentivised to stay fit
-Like with Italians and pasta, Asians eat a lot of things besides rice

1 yAsians have different body types. They generally have more ectomorph body types in their race. And they tend to live healthier lifestyles than lazy Americans that don't workout.
00 Reply They work hard and eat mostly vegetables and hardly any junk food. The ones that don't, like the ones in first world countries, definitely do gain weight if they are not careful.

1 yI believe white rice makes you lose weight cause it’s high in vitamin B1. Asians eat 8 cups of rice a day, and you need 6 cups to get enough vitamin B1 for fat burning.
00 Reply 313 opinions shared on Food & Beverage topic. they dont eat huge portions of it, and the other stuff they eat is in gen super healthy (lots of veggies, and some lean meat and fish)

1 yChopsticks! It's IMPOSSIBLE to eat with those!! And, by the time you get half way through a serving with those, the rice is so cold, you don't WANT to eat any more.

1 yWhen I'm in Asia I eat twice as much as I do at home and lose a pound a week in average by just eating local dishes.

00 ReplyBreads are worse, and cakes and pastries. Rice is okay.

Instead of eating 10,579 grains of rice each meal, they scale it back to just 8,069 grains of rice.00 Reply
1 yThey usually eat healthy in general and stay physically active, I like how much fish they eat in their diets.
10 ReplyBecause 1) portion size control and 2) meal frequency ; hence: because they don't gulp a ton of it four times a day

1 yI won't go too hard on you for how racist this question is but, my estimation would be that A) white rice is nit very high in calories and B) Asian diets contain a lot of fresh veggies.

@Radiate143 It's not racist LOL. Holy shit if this offends people, society is doomed

@HawkPerception ou are clearly unaware of the long standing racist tropes of Asians and rice. They have a far more varied diet than that and West Africans, particularly Sengalese, eat way more rice than Asians.
- 1 y
@HawkPerception also, I wasn't offended, I'm not Asian. Was simply trying to point out that it is a culturally insensitive thing to say.
Asker1 yNo isn't, it's the truth and everyone knows it. You can think what u like
