TRUE steak fans - acceptable and best preparations?

Question for the genuine steak fans - the well done sirloin with A1 crowd can sit this one out -
Whats the limit of seasoning, and the best preparation?

For me, salt & pepper finished with butter and garlic, maybe some rosemary. Only acceptable sauce is a bit of horseradish. Swap S&P with some Montreal steak spice is ok too

A1 is a perfectly good addition to any steak. Haters can eat the corn outta my turds if they disagree. It’s levels of improvement on worcestershire sauce which has stood the test of time for nearly two hundred years.


Anyway… if i’m not putting A1 on my steak, it’s a stilton. The recipe doesn’t seem to be rigid, but the fundamentals are typically the same from one to the next. Butter, garlic, worcestershire sauce and stilton cheese. I’ve had them different consistencies too. I prefer it spreadable, but fully melted to nearly liquid seems more common.

Not opposed to A1 completely, just find it overpowering in most cases and tastes cheap, like trying to cover up a shitty steak

I don't even season my steaks. They don't need anything. Just a little drizzle of olive oil in the pan to prevent any sticking. If I want to get a little fancy, I'll add the garlic and rosemary as you do. That's standard. I don't add salt or black pepper to my foods honestly. While salt does help to bring out the flavour of the meat, I just find that salt is overused in most foods nowadays, so I actively avoid it.

It depends on the cut. If it’s a scotch fillet, nothing but some sea salt and cracked pepper put on at the end. Somewhere between rare and medium with a bit of char on the outside from being flame grilled or barbequed as I would call it. Absolutely sensational.

However, if we’re going down to a porterhouse or something, I will make a Diane sauce or something to go with it.

Minimum of choice and going up through Angus, Prime, Kobe, & Wagyu. Dry-aged for at least 21 days. Cooked no more than medium and not agree to anything over 152 degrees.
