What is everyone favorite alcoholic drink?

I've tried several.
Beer = tastes like piss!! How can people drink that shit?
Champagne = tastes like over-glorified beer!!
Vodka (100 proof) = I poured enough to fill the bottom of a shot glass and drank 1 drop. Hated it!!
Creme de Menth = according to my aunt, she made me one when I was 12. I remember drinking it and liking it and asked for a 2nd. Years later, she claims it was just mint ginger ale. I've had loads of mint ginger ale before and since then and it never tasted like that. Maybe, someday, I'll actually try one at a bar to see if it's what I remember it tasing like.
Schnapps = about 35 years ago, grandma insisted I have one with her for Christmas. I got cherry. It was okay, nothing to write home about. I think I tried apricot, too. Again, no big deal. A few months later my brother bought me a root beer Schnapps. Again, no big deal. Then he said that if you put an ice cube in it, it tastes just like a root beer float so, I tried another with a piece of ice and, it was REALLY good!! I had several more over the next few weeks until I started noticing I was forgetting things so, I haven't had any since.
So, root beer Schnapps on ice would be my fave with, so far, Creme de Menth being a close second, IF that's actually what I had when I was 12. Otherwise, I don't drink.

@On_cloud_wine Sober, I only had a few shots each time. I've never been a drinker so, it might've acted faster on me.
My ex-fiance never drank, either `til one night, she decided to have a bottle of beer and she was so sloshed I had to pour her into bed that night!! She could barely talk! She just had a massive vowel movement!

@On_cloud_wine When I was a kid, I took a sip of beer two or three times; then there was the Creme de Menthe episode at 12; in my late 20's, we were playing a new years eve gig and Butch, the bartender, talked me into trying champagne at midnight; in the late `90's, grandma insisted I have a couple shots of Schnapps with her for Christmas. A few weeks later, my brother bought me a root beer Schnapps and said that it tastes like a root beer float if you put a piece of ice in it. So, I tried it and liked it and had about 5 more double shots. Another few weeks later, I was at the same bar and two guys from my band were there trying to up a gig for us there and they offered to by me a couple drinks so, I had a few more doubles and that's when I started noticing I was forgetting really simple things I've known all my life. So, I quit drinking except for the time about 15 years later when I decided to try the vodka.

Ok I’m still not understanding. Basically I’m asking because I have a friend who seems to have Alzheimer’s disease, and I’m thinking it might because of his heavy drinking in the past—that it killed his brain cells.

But you haven’t quite answered my question yet. I understand that you don’t drink and you’re a light weight, and anything “schnapps” is actually weak so I don’t understand how that could effect your brain from forgetting things unless you were impaired. We’re you drinking alcohol at the time you were forgetting things or after your blood alcohol concentration was “ZERO”?

@On_cloud_wine I would say that's a good possibility but, I'd think it also has a lot to do with the person, their physical make-up. We used to have a family friend that everyone called, Murf. He was like an extended part of the family. Unless he came to our family get togethers, he drank all his meals! He was a VERY funny guy and I'm SURE he could've made a ton of money doing stand-up!! But, he chose to be a bookie. He was eventually found dead in his bath tub in his 40's from a burst liver. He was still very smart! Just not when it comes to what drinking can do to you.
Dad was heavily into beer, as was my aunt Annette (Murf's best friend) and her hubby. Jim but, at least dad knew when to stop each day. Both had a beer tap in their house but, dad never touched it `til lunch time and would have 1 to 3 beers before dinner, take a long walk about 20 miles up river every day. When he got home, he'd take a nap, eat dinner, do things around the house and not start drinking again `til at least 8 or 9 at night and quit around midnight. During this time, he'd have 4 or 5 beers. But, he was always sharp as a tack and would have no problem doing the daily crossword puzzle in the paper.
Annette & Jim, however, would start drinking in the afternoon and keep sucking the tap dry `til they went to bed. Annette was a cop (on the radio) and she & Jim ALWAYS had an open beer in their hands WHILE driving!! Neither one (nor dad) had any Alzheimer's issues before they died.
My brother, in his last few years, would suck dad's tap dry every week!! When it was just dad drinking, it'd take him more than a week to empty a quarter barrel. Once my brother started, dad switched to a half barrel and they'd have to get a new one every 5 to 7 days!!
My brother would wake up, usually off the floor, head straight for the beer tap and drink ALL DAY!! He would sit in a chair in the living room and lord over the t. v. all day every day!!

About 3 a. m., he'd pass out in the chair with a full beer in his hand and either spill it all over the floor or himself and the chair! Or, he'd lay face down on the floor, full beer in hand, pass out and spill the beer all over the carpet!! He was in his 50's when he decided to jump off a bridge and kill himself but, there was no Alzheimer's involved there, either so, as I said, it could just be a person's make-up as to whether they get Alzheimer's, or not. Stress might also be a big factor. Part of my forgetful ness in the past 10 years is probably because of the massive amounts of stress I've been under since at least 2010. Except for those instances I mentioned above, I never drink. I was just noticing after that last set of shots with my band, that I was starting to forget things that I SHOULDN'T have been forgetting!

My #1 is a bold, good quality, red wine.

I also enjoy cocktails that have rum, gin or tequila with fruit juices and liqueurs, nothing fizzy.

Brandy can be good.

Ports and dessert wines are a treat.
Certain liqueurs are tasty treats, too.

If it's wine, I prefer Pinot Noirs for red (no particular brand), and for white wine, I like moscatos. A good brand for that is Batasiolo Moscato D'asti
