Chili recipe, what makes yours different\special?

I have a great American chili recipe, but what do you add to yours that makes it different and stand out?

I don’t make chili often, in fact I made it once at a chili cooking contest where strangers voted on the best chili. I didn’t win, needless to say. But I do add lean meat (turkey or beef, or a mix of both) and some fat for flavor, like bacon or even smoked turkey. I think I add some red wine to the sauce, or something to make it tangy. I add only a few chilli or or chopped jslapeno peppers. Then the pinto beans instead of the red kidney ones.
spices are onions, garlic, pepper, and salt.

My chili oil are mixes of Carolina reaper, naga viper, Urfa biber and bird’s eye chilies with some garlic.
