When was the last time you had donuts?

Yes, this question was inspired by one of our anonymous members. My kids were coming the weekend before last so my wife told me to get a dozen donuts. I have not bought donuts in maybe 20 years. I could not believe a dozen donuts was almost 20 bucks.

It has been several months. I don't eat doughnuts very often but they can be a real treat every once in a while.
I might get an apple fritter, or a custard-filled bar with chocolate frosting, or a raspberry-filled doughnut with glazed frosting. I also like glazed buttermilk doughnuts.

The last time I went to a doughnut shop I was shocked by how much they had increased in price.

I bought some plain ones and run them through the toaster oven. I had a chocolate one. My wife had me buy them for the kids but they did not eat many so I have to finish them because I hate wasting food.

@Slingblade1126 and @exitseven I looked that song up, "Sink the Bismarck". It's from like the 1940s, way before my time but I noticed, Johnny Horton also sang, The Battle of New Orleans! Back when I was in my teens, they would play that song at the "Skate Barn" in San Diego. 🤣🤣 That was actually one of our favorites! I didn't know it was from the 1940s. "In 1814 we took a little trip, a long with Colonel Jackson down the mighty Mississip! We took a little bacon and we took a little beans and we caught the bloody British in the town of New Orleans!" 🤣🤣

Maybe last year … I like the lemon filled custard/cream from Paris baguette. I don’t like American donuts since they took away all the fat/ bad stuff… now all taste like sweet cardboard.

I remember I used to love certain brownies, it was greasy, moist… now I won’t touch any America treats. As well as most foods.
