For me, it's watermelon! 🍉 As far back as I can remember, I never liked it but now I can't get enough of it! I always see questions about "food you liked as a child but no longer do", so, I thought I'd change it up. 😜
Many.
I didn’t like prickly pears but I had never tried them. I thought they might taste like cactus. I was way wrong. They are my favorite fruit now.
grapefruit: I thought I didn’t like it because I tried it with the skin and I learned now that you peel it twice before you eat it and that’s my second favorite fruit now.
stuffed bell peppers: I never liked the taste as a child. I could never understand why my mom would make such a bad tasting dish! lol and now that exact same dish I really like it.
I didn’t like guavas before because I thought they smelled like cat piss.
I still think they smell like cat piss but I like them now :)00 Reply

That's another good one! I never knew they were actually kind of sweet. I always put them in salad's! Egg salad, Tuna fish salad, chicken salad... I love the crunchiness of them!

1 yI know it sounds crazy but being of Mexican decent, I never really liked pinto beans but when I had some with scrambled eggs a couple years ago, something clicked! I don't necessarily get the bag and boil them but I do buy the Goya canned WHOLE beans, fry them, with a little butter, while mashing them, then scramble some eggs and have them with flour tortillas! Delicious!

Scrambled eggs and fried potatoes! With either flour tortillas or buttered toast is definitely one of my favorite breakfast foods. Never have pinto beans though! Very unlady like 😜

1 yAvocado. i know there's people who still dislike it but it grew on me. i like it in my sandwiches often.
22 Reply- 1 y
I actually think I might be allergic to them. They have always tasted spicy and salty to me but I guess they aren't a spicy or salty food. I absolutely love the flavor of them but was told I shouldn't too many of them. I will splurge on avocado dip on occasion!
- 1 y
*shouldn't eat too many of them*

As a child, mushrooms were certainly not my favorite. Their texture seemed strange and unappealing to my young palate. However, as an adult, I've come to appreciate their earthy flavor and culinary versatility. Whether in a rich risotto or a savory Japanese dish, mushrooms have transformed into a beloved ingredient in my kitchen. It's fascinating how tastes evolve over time! 🍄✨

As for me as a kid I never really liked sweet potatoes & now that I’m a grownup & yes I’m admitting that I’m a grownup I love sweet potatoes & eat them all the time.
11 Reply- 1 y
That is a good one! My mom always liked them, I never liked the smell of them lol so, I always went with just a regular baked potato or mashed potatoes. Two years ago I had a grilled sweet potato on the Fourth of July and have never looked back! They are definitely delicious.
731 opinions shared on Food & Beverage topic. As a kid I never liked beef liver as if it is cooked wrong it ends up like shoe leather, but oddly enough I loved Liver gravy over mash potatoes, I have learned that the best way to cook beef liver is to cut it think and flash fry it even though I miss the Liver gravy!
16 Reply- 1 y
Was it common to eat liver when you were a kid? It seems my parents and their parents generation ate a lot of it. I don't know any one that eats it except my dad and an older neighbor. We went out to eat a couple times and the restaurant had liver and onions on the menu, so the each got it lol
- 1 y
I'm probably of the same generation as your parents I'm 62, when I was a kid eating liver, kidney. etc was very common, you did not waste any edible meat, and the 'celebrity cooks/chefs' of the day would do recipes using them. I have not see today's 'celebrity cooks/chefs' use them.
I really love a Steak and Kidney Pie or Puddings which are becoming rare to find frozen, so its a case of making my own. - 1 y
I love watching cooking shows lol Beat Bobby Flay is one of my favorites. I can't remember seeing a recipe involving liver. When it comes to beef, Ribeye steak is what they usually use, which I always found strange tbh, to me it's one of the more gristy cuts. Every once in a while they use sirloin, which is my favorite cut. I'm having a hard time imagining eating kidney!
- 1 y
Kidney is an acquired taste if it has no been a part of your diet from being a youngster, the same with liver as they both have a strong flavour If you want to try Steak & Kidney see if you can find a tinned Steak & Kidney pudding, you should be able to find them in most large American supermarkets as I found them when I lived in the US and I needed a taste of home.
As for Beat Bobby Flay, I've never been heard of the program but I take it is similar to 'Master Chef' or 'Ready, Steady, Cook'. - 1 y
Bobby Flay is considered a Master Chef and has restaurants all over the world. The premise of the show is to have unknown chefs compete against each other on certain dishes and be judge by other chefs. The eventual winner goes against Bobby Flay. what I like about it, is the unknown chef picks what they wanna cook (always a food they cook the best) and Bobby has to make it. There were times it was something he never cooked before lol He usually wins but not always. I enjoy watching it. Master Chef, is that Gordon Ramsey? I did watch that a couple times but I really liked his show, Kitchen Nightmares".

Everything with too much sugar, fat and/or salt is ew, yuck. Sausages are ew, yuck ! Starbucks is ew, yuck! Lately Burger King has made my body respond with ew, yuck too! Am I crazy or is the food industry globally poisoning us for profit or both? @midnightmoon05 @lightbulb27

Yes, the govt's job is to ensure we are fed for when we are not, we rebel. It's much better to give us garbage food in quantity than high quality and low availability. Thus the farming business methods vs organic grown. It's not easy to grow food...
Then the flip side of the food business is the disease care business. That business is fantastic when humans eat engineered gunk.
Other busineses figured this out and now our pet food is garbage. Note how pets are dying younge, teeth rotting out, etc.. It's all business... and unnecessary "planned obsolesence"... of life.
Common sense has been tossed out.
You can be thankful you are wise enough to avoid it. You may live longer for it.
If you like these pictures, you'd really appreciate Japanese girls. They dress up like that in real life in Japan... maybe not the pink hair as much. And they eat real food there.
It wouldn't shock me our vitamins are poison pills either. Oh well, you get about 80-90 years, that's it. live it and live your purpose if you can find it.

1 y🌽 😂😂 Never liked it as a kid but now, like you with watermelon, I can't get enough! This is the time of year here that you can buy it on the side of the road freshly picked!
12 Reply- 1 y
Like a lot of things people have mentioned, I don't know how anyone can not like sweet corn! Especially grilled, dipped in butter and lightly salted.
- 1 y
I never had it freshly picked. In Florida, we always bought it frozen lol but now, I eat it every night! I found a way to make it in the oven, it's not as good as grilled corn but close! Like my boyfriend says, "mmm, it's better than sex" Haha I'm gonna really miss it when the season is over.

Black olives? I always loved them! 🤣 I'm like you, I just like meat and cheese on a pizza. Veggies seem to get soggy and gross.
- 1 y
I'm still not a fan of green olives. They're not too bad in a taco or in a dip but I can't just eat them by themselves.
1 yI used to hate all kinds of fish when I was growing up, but now I LOVE fish and cook it all the time for myself. Especially dense meaty fish like tuna or swordfish! 😋
12 Reply- 1 y
Aww, you just reminded me how much I grew to like tuna! 'cause I was the same when it came to fish. Then one night my cousin made a thick slab of tuna on the grill and I couldn't believe how good it was. That's the only way I'll have it though, I've never had it baked or fried and I'm afraid to try it that way lol
- 1 y
In general for tuna, the less cooked it is, the more flavor it has. I love coating in sesame seeds and just searing the sides, and covering it lightly in a soy sauce, garlic and ginger glaze.

Until about 7th grade, I hated tomatoes. I was really tired after wrestling one day and given a sandwich. My parents didn't tell me it had tomatoes in it. Since then, I like them. I won't eat a raw one outside of a sandwich, but dried or cooked are always fine with me.

I never liked any type of seafood, which is crazy, because I live in San Diego but three years ago, I had freshwater perch and absolutely loved it! I'll eat perch and actually grew to really like shrimp. I always liked broccoli and carrots but raw. I never liked them steamed or fried.

@laciejordan ok thats nice. Awesome you loved your veggies so your parents didn't have it hard to convince you to eat

- 1 y
Yeah i definitely need to put some kind of sauce over white rice for me to enjoy it still. But I used to not like it at all
1 yZucchini. I never liked it as a kid, but I eat it now.
However, Pork Chops. They are vile and nasty. I hated them as a kid, I hate them as an adult. Pork Chops and Pork Steak, vile vile gross, nasty shizzle.

Roasted, crispy, or glazed with maple syrup and bacon, I was converted
- 1 y
Hmm, I like maple syrup and everybody likes bacon or should! I'll have to try that. The one thing I do like about brussel sprouts, is they are a meaty and juicy little vegetable, unlike the ones I prefer, like carrots, broccoli and cauliflower. I really like cucumbers but I think I might be allergic to them, they give me heart burn and stomach cramps.
Olives, ham sandwiches and salads.
