Macaroni cheese or cauliflower cheese?

Both are common side dishes but I reckon cauliflower cheese is more popular this side of the Atlantic and macaroni in the States. Personally, I think the latter is a waste of good cheese and little more than fodder to sustain the masses.

And as for the children, oh, they're all on my naughty list, and when they sit their little brat asses on my lap, begging for gifts, I simply chuckle with delight and say, "Ho ho hellfire, sinner!" The only gift they'll receive is a contract in blood, trading their soul for a wish fulfilled. So, is it a Barbie Doll you want, Jane? Give your soul to me and your first born's soul as well, you sniveling brat.

But since you force me to choose, give me the bum any day, for there's nothing quite as satisfying as the satisfying pop of an overinflated rump, ripe for the taking. And may you soon find yourself bound and gagged with a rusty ornament, your fate sealed as you've signed your soul away to the Anti-Christmas.

Dear Poppy, you forgot the right compromise, which is macaroni with cauliflower and cheese... ;0)

Macaroni with only cheese seems a little poor to me, and only cauliflower with cheese, although a little healthier, feels as if something is missing.

Growing up in an Italian family, we did mac and cheese much differently. We did it with macaroni noodles, tomato sauce and mozzarella baked together in the oven. I'm not a fan of just the Velveeta version most people eat.

Mac and cheese usually gives me an upset stomach or a headache. Always has. But then so does pipe pudding and I adore that dish
