Dude i genuinely dont understand how people can get eggshells in their egg after cracking it💀 i was never taught a specific way and basically hit it on the counter and push my nails in the crack and break it open like that. My way is messy, not perfect, creates small eggshells, and yet i have *never* gotten eggshells into my eggs lol. Its mainly bc of the eggs membrane like material around the inside of it, so maybe you crack the outside but the eggshell stays intact/together bc of the membrane.
A sharp edge I was told. Now if I can only figure out soft boiled... It's been a lifetime of struggle despite having multiple chefs SHOW ME exactly how.
Side of a bowl, its rare to get she'll inside. On a flat surface you risk a mess if you hit too hard. Main thing is to crack in one bowl then transfer to the main bowl, that way you don't contaminate everything if you get a bad egg.
If your not confident just hold in your hands and tap with a blunt knife.
Yes I often forget this trick when in the thick of a recipe.
Cracking an egg is an essential skill in any kitchen adventure. The key is to tap it gently on a flat surface, not the edge of a bowl, which can cause shells to break into the egg. Once it creates a small crack, use your fingers to carefully pull apart the shell over the bowl. This method keeps the shell pieces at bay. I've found this technique a reliable companion during my cooking explorations! 🍳✨

Crack them with a knife, then use both thumbs to break it in two.
I smack it with the edge of a fork. I don't know how I came up with that. Works for ME!
Man eggs have gone up to $7.50 a dozen, even at the discount supermarkets, where I live. Before this avian flu crisis, maybe $3.00 a dozen here.
Taping it on the edge then breaking it with my fingers 🤌🏻 🤞🏻
I climb onto the roof and throw it down onto the street.
I smack it on the edge of the frying pan. Sometimes it makes a little mess.
My wife cracks it more, but when I crack it I hit it against the bowl rim
One handed, light tap and then pull the shell apart
I cracked them on my knuckle, but that’s mostly hard boiled eggs
I usually do it manually, I tried telekinesis a few times, but it never worked :(
I guess I am never too old to learn new things 🙂
