Why do people eat mac and cheese from a box?

It's because many people want something quick and easy, and they rarely shop, so they don't keep shredded cheese because it would go bad, and they don't want to do the work to shred it, or have/make the other ingredients. Lots of people are gone 12-13 hours a day at work (including commuting) and only grocery shop every week to two weeks, and can't be bothered to make a separate trip to buy specific ingredients for a single meal. Many times they're only cooking 2-4 meals a week at home, and eat take-out for other meals, so their cooking skills are extremely basic, as are their supplies. It's hard to understand if you're the kind of person who makes a dozen or more hot meals a week.
Because it is easier than making it all from scratch.
Just like the same reason someone would make a frozen microwave dinner you have to heat up. It is quicker, easier than cooking the entire thing from scratch.
Maybe they aren't always in the mood to make everything from scratch.
Its fast and takes basically no ingredients lol.. I used to love my dads Kraft mac and cheese since he would make it and add a second pack of cheese from a second box and add a bit of milk and cheese wiz and it was so good lol. Everyone else who makes it, it tastes like shit lol. Tho I say all British mac n cheese are trash, had a few different ones and they were gross, I hate the white cheese they put in the packs..
I think they recycle those American "cheddar cheese" blocks with mac & cheese. I mean those yellow 40x10x10cm blocks that is processed soy protein, milk powder and other chemical waste.
Mac and cheese from a box is a classic comfort food, often associated with nostalgia and convenience. Its popularity stems from its simplicity and accessibility. For many people, preparing a homemade cheese sauce might be intimidating, but with a box, you just need minimal cooking skills to enjoy a warm, cheesy dish in minutes. It’s a quick solution for a busy lifestyle, providing a satisfying meal with little effort. I remember my college days, late-night cravings were often satisfied by this cheesy delight because it was so easy to whip up after a long day of studying! 🍝🧀

Grate question again @purplepoppy
There comes a time when plastic food is all you can be bothered to consume. Notice I did not say cook. The adding water bit comes from taking hot water from the tap and adding it to the container you won't even have to clean after because binning it is enough.
It's laziness in other words
The only time I did that was when I was living on a campus cuz I travelled for a program and was living there alone it was only a month so I didn’t bother bringing cooking utensils and pots to cook my own food so I literally relied on boxed meals to save money cuz eating… they’re a hit or miss majority is a miss and I pray I never have to rely on those ever again for survival lol
The box contains the pasta and a packet of cheese (sometimes powder, sometimes gooey). As an "idiot chef", I boil the water, add the pasta, add the cheese, and eat it. Voila, Mac n Cheese.
It’s a guilty pleasure. It’s comfort food. Yes, I have had better made and more costly versions but… something about it, it’s flat out nostalgic comfort food from being a kid. Here is the thing, I actually prefer it to a better made, more costly ingredient version. That orange powder mixed in with cheap pasta is comfort food, that’s how I think of it.
The ones in the UK/EU are not too bad when you compare them to the ones from the US, where the vast majority of them are loaded with artificial ingredients, with some of the so orange they are practically neon,
I do my own version substituting other pasta for the Macaroni, and I vary the types of cheese and mustard to tweak the flavour.
That’s the real cheap brands and it doesn’t taste very good not high-quality and they’re small and thin to. But
The frozen macaroni and cheese from Stouffer‘s from the boxes are real good high quality and thick. They taste like homemade macaroni and cheese
I don't know how people eat that garbage at all.
It seems more like something you should be using to patch holes in your drywall.
We don't. we start with a stock of cream and milk and start adding the cheese. Gruyere, Parm, Cheddar and Monteray Jack. We used to add a fifth cheese but it became to rich and would not stay very long. Late for the door.
Yes see you asked a question about Mac and cheese an I had to passion it because I agree Mac an cheese is only good if it's home made everything is better home made. All the box stuff is only good if you make it yourself
i assume because it is cheap. It's a box with all the ingredients for one low price. It's an inferior product, but that's what comes with little money.
For example a Walmart Great Value Thick & Creamy Macaroni & Cheese, 7.25 oz Box with 650 calories in it costs $0.58.
Could be a number of things. Either they don’t have much skills when it comes to cooking, could be they don’t have much time on their hands, it’s possible that they’re just lazy, or growing up they never experienced homemade Mac n cheese and they just simply aren’t aware of how much better it is.
it's engieered by scientists to taste good.
Only God knows what that stuff is...
the fact it doesn't rot in the box should make people a little suspect...
Perhaps they don't have plates at home. So the box comes in handy.
They are convenient, very cheap, and fill your tummy. . . if you don't care about the quality of food you are eating.
So please give me some Kraft macaroni and cheese is actually pretty good and yes very unhhealthy processed food. We dont eat it out of the box though. Very dry yuck but some may. The product itself requires lots of butter.
The synthetic chemical additives taste awesome and give it that cool orange color!
That stuff is most likely clogging up my arteries & is going to give me another heart attack but. I have no shame. It's cheap & easy.
I have no shame they're a bowl now - mmm easymac ready to microwave packaged bowls 🥣
@purplepoppy had one earlier this week - a new one in the cupboard today 😁
@purplepoppy even I wouldn't resort to cold pizza and for breakfast ; 😔🍳
No idea, if I want convenience there's always Charlie Bigham
I presume it is something American. They also have "pancake mix" in a box. They're idiots.
Your question is akin to asking why people eat a bowl of cereal for breakfast when they could make an omelet. The obvious answer is, because it's cheap, quick and easy to make.
Maybe that is all we can afford to feed a family thanks to the Biden administration and his AMERICA LAST party
Specific kind of noodle. Specific kind of cheese.
Can't just put a bowl of spaghetti and cheese, and call it mac and cheese
I used to Not anymore I don't . They're not really tasty.
I've got news for you poopy, most people eat mac and cheese from the box
Because they come in a box lol
I don’t eat them though
I would never eat anything other than cereal that came out of a box.
Its fast easy and cheap some taste good though like annie’s
it is a fetish
I guess it's because it's cheap
People like convince.
Easier than making it from scratch
I don’t I like the real fresh.
Maybe they like the taste better.
It is easy and still tastes good.
Easy to make
