Snow pea pods. One time I had Chinese food with my mom and dad and I started choking on one. My mom with her slender fingers tried repeatedly but couldn’t get it out and tried reaching several times in my mouth. And literally she gave up. Ty hen my dad with his big sausage fingers actually was able to get it out and saved my life. I thanked him over and over and I can’t remember if I cried or not but I remember he said calm down it’s all over. You’re ok. Do you want to keep eating or watch tv? I said I’ll eat but I’m never ever touching another snow pea pod ever again! He said I don’t blame you. I saw him shoot my mom a mean glance and it’s the first time I saw her cower down. Then I saw him start eating and I looked at her and she looked back at me and I shot her a mean glare as well meaning how could she give up on me like that? After all she was a retired nurse as well! Years later I asked her why didn’t she use the heimlich maneuver? She said that it wasn’t down far enough that it would have come up and it might have gone down. I don’t know if that’s true or bs.
