Just cleaned out my fridge and I have no idea how people have fridges full to the brim, what do you keep in there? Very much an ingredient household so maybe that's why my fridge is always pretty bare.

Just cleaned out my fridge and I have no idea how people have fridges full to the brim, what do you keep in there? Very much an ingredient household so maybe that's why my fridge is always pretty bare.

Right now I have shrimp Creole and Tahine and rice to put either of them over. I have tomato, red onion and cucumber salad cut up. I have plums and nectarines that I can cut up to eat with morning cereal. I have a dozen eggs on the door, hummus I made, hot dogs and hot dog veggie chili.
I have sweet potatoes in the potato bin, along with celery and a beet. I have sugared strawberries, I have blueberries that were frozen and that I defrost bit by bit, same with the sugared strawberries from earlier this year. I have Yakamein still frozen.
I planned a lot of food to take me through two weeks of not being able to lift much or do much after surgery. (8 lbs... my big martha stewart pot weighs more than that empty).
It's uncomfortable to drive very far and I'm sore and easily tired. But MOSTLY, I cook meal food of two or three kinds, freeze some of it, eat some of it and have some variety so I'm not bored.
I keep lots of fresh fruits and veggies: have loads of green peppers, green onions, mushrooms to jazz up a morning omelet. I have catfish fillets fresh from Lake Pontchartrain which I get from the farmer's market where I work part time.
I try to plan lots of meals to avoid eating out where I have no control over what's in the food or how it's cooked. Healthier eating and saves loads of money.
I have a huge refrigerator freezer side by side and it's always packed.
A man's got to eat!
I like to keep stuff Frozen so it lasts a long time and I can take it out whenever I need it. So I freeze everything. I freeze eggs in flexible ice cube tray so I can pop them out and I don't have to worry about buying eggs all the time. Can't tell the difference between the Frozen and the fresh ones.
I buy fresh vegetables and cut them up and freeze them. I make french fries for home fries and then freeze those. I freeze milk in containers so I can take out as much as I need at a time. I make soup and freeze that in containers. I make pasta sauces and freeze those, different kinds of chicken dishes, etc.
It's the only way I can eat at home but it works great. If I'm hungry I just pull something out of the freezer and either stick it in the microwave or the air fryer whichever is right for what I'm making.
I freeze loaves of bread too.
So I just pull stuff out of the freezer and put it in the fridge to defrost. I keep things like yogurt and lfresh fruits and, things that don't freeze well, and all the condiments and stuff in the fridge. There's so many different things that both the freezer and the fridge are almost always full.
I eat a lot of meals out, but during the day when I'm home and working it's great to be able to just go downstairs and grab something out of the freezer or fridge to eat. It's all ready to go, just got to heat it up. And it's all healthy stuff. I don't buy the pre-prepared junk except small amounts for a snack sometimes like a bag of Frozen chicken nuggets. 🙂
Lately I've been working so many hours that I really don't have any time to cook. But I try to get in at least a little of it on the weekend so I can restock the freezer.
This system really reduces the amount of shopping I have to do. I just buy a whole bunch at a time and end up freezing a lot of things that can be frozen easily.
I'll admit I'm not eating the same way I did when I was in a relationship. She was a great cook. It's pretty Spartan but it does the job... And it's healthy.
When I want the fancy food I go out for it.
Oh I make a lot of fish things also.
Damn that's full. I have 3 bottles of ketchup and Milk, and a few cans of Energy drinks/pop. It would be more full if food was affordable and I wasn't poor but on the other hand Freezer is always full cause frozen food is cheap unlike fridge food.
Pretty empty. Maybe even less than yours for a family of 3-4 people.
we don’t like to buy too much. We buy if we need… otherwise, just some basic fruits and vegetables.
my brother and sister’s family cooks a lot so they have a lot in their freezer and refrigerator. Full like you said.
I cook every day. I think during summer we probably have more things since there's more variety of vegetables
Great question! My fridge is a bit of a mix. It always has staple ingredients, mostly fresh produce, cheeses, and condiments that serve as a canvas for experimentation. From my travels, I’ve picked up a habit of keeping something unique, like a spicy miso paste from Japan or truffle oil from Italy, for that extra flair in dishes. Having these essentials allows me to whip up different meals and create spontaneous culinary experiences. 🍝🍣

Well, better an empty fridge than Zuul waiting in it for you. :-o
Our kitchen's sub-zero ref with a viewing window.
Sometimes, I feel a bit ashamed when guests take peeks through the ref's viewing window since it makes us seem like gluttons who have a fully-packed ref.
To make the situation more embarrassing, the maids arrive with more groceries to be put away into the refs and the pantries.
My fridge is always ways too full that's becuase I buy too much and cook too much XD
for my defense though we used to be 5 until quite recently so I guess I always cook as if everyone was still there. I'm used to live with quite a fews people so I still have the habits to cook and buy a lot plus I used to cook food for my sister (cause she's a lazy ass who never cook and only eat at restaurant or take uber eat).
@Razp_Sorbet mine is full of baby milk and my breast milk
Wouldn't you want to keep that in the freezer and defrost as needed?
@Razp_Sorbet
It’s in freezer and in fridge too
I like to keep my fridge stocked, although there are reasons why I do so automatically. I used to be the shopper and main cook when living with my family, so I am used to buying more ingredients than I need just living by myself like I am now. And I also prefer to make large pots of stew or curry, which takes up a lot of space in the fridge. I like going shopping when I can find good deals.
I go shopping for food quite often so I don't keep much in my fridge mostly condiments supplements, milk, grated cheese and things like that. I don't have that big of a fridge either :P
The fridge is basically empty like yours I usually only get what I need for the day I’m so bad at buying groceries for a week I always forget stuff and end up planning it day by day
You know those old westerns where the heros riding across a burning desert, tumbleweeds tumbling by, vultures sitting in that dead tree watching, thats very similar to my refrigerator.
Somewhere in between. Definitely not a solely ingredient household, but not just ready-to-go foods either.
I would describe your fridge and mine as full.
Interesting
... In what universe is that empty?
You've got more things in that fridge than mine has when it is full.
Most of it is condiments and water
It's pretty much empty except for some soft drinks and stuff. I can't cook so there's no point in trying to keep anything in there that actually is food.
Can't cook?
Good save with the butter. My fridge is about half full right now but I know it works most efficiently when its full than empty.
Mine always full, my man like to shopping for groceries.
My fridge has alcohol bread and cheese and as long those are in there, the fridge is full 😔
It's usually quite full and a mess, living in a shared flat
I have maybe five things in my fridge, three of which are sunscreen.
Various jars from different jams to various base pastes and condiments like 3 different kinds of mustard
it is about half full. tomorrow is supermarket day.
Its kinda full. I cooked Sunday for the week so a lot of prepared meals
For the week?
What kind of food do you make thats still good for a week in the fridge?
I see that makes more sense. I was nervous for your health there
We just gonna gloss over the size of those carrots?
Lol! I picked the smallest ones there!
Mmhmm. Scratch New Zealand off the list.
Don't like our jumbo carrots? 😪
They just make me feel a type of way
You should have seen the others... one carrot would feed three people
What? That's crazy! You couldn't eat more than one, could you?
My fridge is closer to bein g full. I just did a grocery shop yesterday.
Full after shopping for the week. Empty except for staple by the following Tuesday.
Mostly full of water, bar, wine. And I buy parisable.

Ours is moderately full at the moment.
What's wrong with 3 blocks of butter
Butter is expensive here
There is now beer and wine in my fridge 😋 took the place of all the chicken which has now been eaten
