French food is good but people (especially Brits) are biased towards France, the French & French food & everything French. Not everyone shares that sentiment, though. Personally, I’m not fond of French pastries. I’ve tried quite a few—pain au chocolat, croissants, pains aux raisins, chaussons aux pommes—and I don’t find them special or particularly tasty. For me, pain au chocolat is basically chocolate in a bread roll, croissants feel very buttery, pains aux raisins are just raisin-filled pastries, and chausson aux pommes reminds me a bit of apple pie. I tend to prefer pastries from other countries, like chocolate chip cookies, strawberry cupcakes with icing, NY cheesecake, and chocolate sponge cake with chocolate custard. In my opinion, these treats from the US, UK, Poland, Russia, and beyond are more delicious than French pastries.
Am I the only who prefers chocolate chip cookies, strawberry cupcakes with icing, NY cheesecake, chocolate sponge cake with chocolate custard over French pastries such as croissants, chausson aux pommes, pains au raisins & pains au chocolat?
