What is the last thing you cooked at home?

Gordon Ramsey's Shepard pie off of YouTube. As a tradition we go out as a family to the birthday person's favorite restaurant. My Middle Daughter realized how expensive resteraunts were amd though we could save money if I cooked her dinner amd we could spend some of the savings buying more gifts. She is into clothes and accessories. So she thought more of small stuff. We'll she got what she wanted and I cooked her her GR Shepards pie. She LOVED it. Even though I forgot one of the most important seasonings and a step that would have made it crispy where mine came out more soup like.
Bean soup. Navy beans, with some of them pureed to thicken the soup and some left whole along with home made chicken broth, home grown kale, onions and chunks of tomatoes.
Yummmmy
My wife uses that trick to thicken chili, doesn't add to the flavor mix excellent idea
@AMS700CX4u2 a good alternative to flour! I try to avoid gluten unless it’s 100% whole grain too.. mhmm
And I love chile and bean soup my comfort food
@On_cloud_wine With you on that one. Save the bone from a spiral-cut ham to season with.
ham & cheese omelettes (shredded emmental, lardons of ham, a bit of milk, sprinkle of salt, and eggs. all blended together in a pan)
That looks so good! I made Lumpia Shanghai recently. 😋
What kind of dip do you use?
When I was about 30, I worked with a young Filipina who would bring a huge pan of home made lumpia to the office. It was the first time I had tried it.
Later, I became friends with an auto body shop owner whose family owned a Philippine restaurant. I started going there a lot.
That was in the Los Angeles area.
Cooking during rainy days can be quite cozy! The last thing I cooked at home was a steaming bowl of ramen. With the rain pouring outside, it was the perfect comfort food. I made a rich, savory broth and added some homemade noodles, sliced chashu pork, a soft-boiled egg, and a sprinkle of green onions. It was a delicious meal that warmed the soul. 🍜

Rice, a mix of vegetables and breaded salmon sticks.
Mashed potatoes and "porcupine" meatballs. The latter is meatballs made with hamburger and beef Rice-O-Roni, and when the rice plumps up, the meatballs look a bit like a porcupine. Corn and green beans on the side.
This was a winter comfort meal growing up that's just as good today.
I bought some fresh caught fish at the local market. It looked soooo good I just grabbed a few fillets and cooked them up in white wine, evoo, butter, garlic, and some herbs. It came out great, which isn't a surprise when you sauté most anything in that sauce. Then I realized I didn't even know what KIND of fish it was! LOL I'll go back today and find out.
