Do you like honey beers?

Tonight's beverage is a bottle of honey beer. Which as you probably guess is beer made with the addition of honey. I'd describe it as bitter with citrus and honey notes.

Lots of brands out there but never really been popular, so where do you stand?

Ah isn't that mead? Ah honey is added towards end.

I briefly thought I might try that but I know I won't. Norwegian farm beer brewing is more my style and I start drinking it on day 3 from the fermentation vat. All that ancillary stuff of bottling & aging is a waste of time and interferes with getting drunk cheaply as possible.

Still you have got me interested and I will wander down to the '1000 different beers' shop and see if they have any. They have a lot UK beers so the ought to.

At a waterfall an hour from where I live there are a bunch of shops that let you try different types of wine in an area of around a 40 mile or so radius of vineyards with taste testing booths for a modest fee and you can buy bottles of your favourite ones. I got a honey wine years ago but I don't think I ever drank it, or if I did, the flavour was so typical I forgot what it tastes like. I like to experiment with different types of fruit and natural flavour items, but beer and honey both lead to weight gain according to friends.

Probably I did taste some honey beers in the past. Not bad at all, but generally I prefer plain strong beer, Trappists for instance, or Stout.

On the other hand I make each year as amateur a little batch of mead, which is basically fermenting grapes containing not too much sugar, the missing quantity to get a 12°V wine being replaced by honey. Thus I do like somehow the taste ;0)

I tend to prefer beers with slightly sweet flavors. I’m sure i’ve had one or more honey beers, but none come immediately to mind. I do enjoy some meads though.

Mead is fermented honey water. Honey beer is just beer with honey added during brewing

Actually yes, I think honey is a good adjunct for beer. I don't see it around much and I haven't had it in years.
